Line Combos: What's your preferred playoff line combos?

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Team is hot right now but you have to think that adding Svetch and Carrier back creates a better playoff roster.

Sitting Jost is one but who else goes out and what are your line combos (I'm still trying to figure mine out)?

Svech-Aho-Jarvis (need more size on first line)
Hall-Kotkaniemi-Blake
Martinook-Staal-Stankoven
Robinson-Jankowski-Carrier

It's hard to decide the last player to scratch, but I sat Roslovic for the moment on the theory that this team is built on defense.

I originally had the RW as Stankoven, Carrier, Blake as a way to let Blake feast on lower difficulty. But I settled on this to create a second shutdown line with that 4th line. We have seen that Stankoven works well with Martinook and Staal. And I think Blake will mesh very well with that second line.

I can also see flipping Blake and Svech if you aren't worried about size on the first line.

Your last line is where I'm at. I'm not splitting up the current 1st or 3rd lines they are playing too well together.

Call me old fashioned, and superduperstitious, but without an "x-" this feels like it should be titled "hockey gods, strike down aho, jarvis, slavin, and pk tuesday night"

Everyone else focusing on forwards. MY preferred D combos:

Slavin - Nikishin
Orlov - Chatfield
Nikishin - Morrow

YES, DOUBLE SHIFT BOOM. And yes, I'm tired of seeing Burns, Walker and Ghost on the ice

No this is not entirely serious, but I am serious about Nikishin with Slavin

Personally, I’m not that impressed with Robinson since Necas was traded. Also, I think Blake/Jarvis/Stankoven are pretty interchangeable. I just like Blake with Aho and Svechnikov, that line was starting to click before the whole Rantanen fiasco.

Dude, Sean Walker has not been a problem this year. Like at all.

Here's how I would build the lines:

Svechnikov-Aho-Jarvis
Hall-Kotkaniemi-Blake/Roslovic
Martinook-Staal-Stankoven
Robinson-Jankowski-Carrier/Blake/Roslovic

13th: Carrier/Roslovic
14th: Jost

Slavin-Burns
Orlov-Chatfield
Nikishin/Gostisbehere-Walker
7th: Nikishin/Gostisbehere

Andersen-Kochetkov, this time as an actual platoon.

Hall-Aho-Jarvis
Svech-KK-Blake
Marty-Staal-Carrier
Robinson-Jank-Stank

Standard D

I don’t think either rookie D see the ice without injuries. Nikishin is the first in if he gets a few games pre playoffs.

Svech has been a drag on Aho this season imo so I don’t want that happening in the post season. See if Blake can give them a spark. Hate to drop Stank but Carrier was signed to be in that spot and has lived up to it. The fourth line has good speed and strength, they’ll be a handful.
