Equipment: What's Your Current Gear?

Helmet: CCM V10/V08 with Tron small straight visor - depending on if I need a visor or not
Shoulders: CCM 1899 vintage
Elbows: RBK 5k - 1st gen
Pants: Easton pro stocks from the Isles (2 piece pants)
Gloves: Winwell pro-stock, TPS R8
Shin pads: RBK 5k - 1st gen
Skates: Graf 709
Sticks: Easton se16, Sherwood Nexon N12, Easton S19 (recently broke)
 
I like to encourage people jumping into higher end skates to consider not doing the top eyelet for better ankle mobility. Or consider alternative lacing techniques which allow the same thing.

I started doing this a couple years ago and my skating dramatically improved. Ankle mobility is the key to good edge control.

Has anyone else had the easton RS2 and found it whippy? Mines supposedly 100 flex and I cut it down 2 inches... Feels more like an 85-90

Upgraded a few things

Helmet: got an oakley vr903 visor (used to have ccm fm580 cage)

Didnt post what cup I had because a cup is a cup and it was just a bauer mesh jock with mueller cup... Found an 8k reebok jockstrap and wow what a difference. Feels like nothing's there.

Got ccm crazy light shins... Dont really like them though so I might just go back to my one 60s

Also got a vapor 1x Ovi curve and cut down to around 85-90 flex.

Planning on upgrading my super soft x3.0 skates soon.

Upgraded or changed both skates and sticks this year. Added 6 inches to the sticks; not sure what that does to the flex.

Not sure how long the visor should last? That might be up next. It's had a few whacks.

Pants - Sherwood 5030's (I like the bigger pants)

Helmet - Bauer 2100 w/ fishbowl (I have vision issues and the cage was causing too many problems)

any suggestion on new shinpads? I have the same ancient ones I played with in college ten years ago and they are barely staying together

Re-started playing last year with a mix of used stuff I picked up cheap, combined with really old stuff I'd had for like 15 years. Slowly replacing everything with newer gear. At present I'm using:

Helmet: Bauer 2100 w/cage

Elbows: CCM U+ CL
Pants: Reebok something or other with Crosby's seal of approval on the back ( :facepalm: ); this will probably be the next thing I replace, but I'm not in a big hurry
Shins: CCM Tacks from forever ago
Gloves: Easton M3 Mako
Skates: CCM Jetspeed Max 2.0
Sticks (the ones that I use, anyway): Graf G45 (55 flex, Sakic curve); I had intended to cut them down to get up to 65 or so flex, but they arrived about an inch and a half shorter than expected, so I wasn't sure if I wanted to cut them down any farther. Still kinda thinking about it, but on the fence.

I play one league game a week (novice league), an hour of pickup a week, 1-1/2 hours of hockey practice/scrimmage, a 1-1/2 hour stick/puck and private lesson, and usually I'll sub in at least 1, if not 2 games per week. I've played 4 hours of games and my weekly practice, all in the last 3 days. My gear rarely has a chance to dry out between uses. I can't get enough of this sport!

I will say, given the shortage of goalies in my novice league, I'm tempted to start piecing together a set of goalie gear, just so we don't have to play empty net every week.

Hmm, I used to use lacrosse gloves, actually. Never occurred to me to look for shoulders, too!

Gloves are a little sketchy to me hah, I wear the shoulders because they are way more mobile and light and I figure some people don't wear any at all so atleast I have protection over my chest/heart area.
