Seravalli: What's your best offer for Dan Vladar? Colorado would be a fit.

I really don't see Vladar getting more than a 3rd. Maybe even a 4th. He's been much better since the offseason surgery, but it's still a relatively small sample size.

The Flames also have Cooley in the minors so I don't think they'll hold out for a huge return on Vladar. They can deal him and just call Cooley up.

I get the Flames POV but this would just be stupidity by the Avs. There’s nothing…literally nothing…to suggest Vladar is capable of being the full time starting backstop for a good team, nor is his track record any better than Georgiev’s. Quite frankly, it’s considerably worse. You can make all the concessions about Georgiev being on a good team and Vladar not but I read CalgaryPuck pretty regularly. Nobody…no Flamea fans…thinks Dan freaking Vladar is the answer for anything.

For the Avs to expend draft capital on him on the prayer that he suddenly becomes A) a legit NHL starter and B) good…that’s beyond comical and a complete waste of assets. The Avs don’t need MORE goalies…they need THE goalie. And any use of assets otherwise is stupidity.

In fairness this is just a cesspool of people whose opinions are so bad they get laughed off of HFboards. Which says a lot because there are some pretty brutal posters on HFboards

Of course Calgary doesn’t think Vladar is the answer, he’s just a decent platoon goalie.

I don’t think Colorado would be targeting him as a saviour. Just a guy who could give them some quality starts if they’ve completely given up on Georgiev. Plus he’s likely less expensive than some of the other options on the market

One or both of those picks better have conditions to upgrade to a 2nd or at minimum a 3rd. It should cost at least that much just do dump Georgiev
You vastly overrate Vladar's value, We got him for a 3rd when he had potential. He's worth a 4th and taking an extra 1m+ is worth the other 4th. less than a dozen games of decent play isn't going to make people forget the past couple years.

I feel like if they’re taking back Georgiev they can get more than two 4ths. However the Flames draft their best players in the 4th round so this might actually be the angle to take
I mean eating Georgiev's contract only adds 1.4m and 1/4 of that is already paid. A 4th for Vladar, and a 4th to eat what's about 1.1m seems about right to me.

He looks like a decent backup for the first time in 3 years and he’s worth a second? I doubt it. He’s probably in the positive value category though. Maybe a mid round pick with some retention? But good on Calgary if they can get more than that for a 27 year old who had an .882 SV% last year

I'd rather keep him than not get a 2nd. What is this 4th nonsense

Hell, I'd be fine with re-signing him. Going Wolf/Cooley seems risky as hell. Healthy Vladar is a solid backup that I trust.

He’s a career .895 goalie who is a career backup at best and is posting a .905sv% through what… 10 games?

Since when has a goalie like that ever returned a second in value? Logan Thompson who has a vastly superior track record (like genuinely not even close) went for two 3rd rounders in the summer.

As others have said, it's more likely the Avs deal Annunen than Georgiev, as of today.

It's changes weekly though. It's either Annunen goes for a 1A/B upgrade, or both are moved for an entirely new tandem that can platoon starts (I.e. 2 of Vladar/Vej/Talbot/Blackwood)

A problem is the cap. I haven't looked into it thoroughly but the main advantage to Annunen is his contract. The Avs likely don't want to pay much more for a tandem than they're paying now (~4.2M) without shipping out a major piece (Rantanen/Nichuskin/Colton). That's unlikely with Landeskog's status still uncertain (unless the secrecy around Landeskog is more for cap reasons) and limits the options available to them.

In short, there could be a trade with Annunen for Vladar @50%, but I think I'd prefer a different target.
