Speaking of Tij Iginla and Cayden Lindstrom, I think they were more missed than Sennecke, Cristall, and Misa, those three having qualities that are largely already represented on the team. There were plenty of guys on the team that do things that Sennecke, Cristall, and Misa do. And maybe they should have had more of that, but people are going on like Mckenna, Catton, and Ritchie can't do that stuff. What they can't do is some of what Tij Iginla and Cayden Lindstrom can do.
McKenna is a skilled player yet only had one point. If McKenna , Catton and Ritchie could " do stuff " where was it? Misa is more skilled than Ritchie and Catton and probably as skilled as McKenna. HC admits they screwed the pooch again. Start there and get rid of some of these execs. People sign their sons and daughters up for house league which is expensive in itself. Some of that money goes to HC. What the hell are they doing with all the cash if this is the product they put forward to represent our country on home ice? HC admits they left some of the best players off the roster. Time for a change at the top. They simply don't have a clue.

For me there are 2 things

1. the actual teams and players - the people on the bench and ice and that is a great
2. the actual corporation that runs the show - Hockey Canada. I'm guessing Hockey Canada is a shit organization that is very poorly run with a lot of warts.

And this interview didn't change my mind about those 2, to me, very different things.

And I'll add to that clip cause it pisses me off.

He's basically tell us that they had the best hotel room, best schedule and best changing room while telling us not to yell at the kids.

I didn't think anyone was yelling at the kids. I think everyone was yelling at management for picking the wrong kids and leaving behind some very obvious choices. I think everyone was yelling at the coach and the people that picked the coach. This clip is infuriating.. it's a classic gaslight!

Despite all the stress and struggles regarding Hockey Canada in recent days, I truly believe this is temporary.

The biggest problem is Hockey Canada's stubbornness. This "everything is fine" mentality they have. This isn't the first time we haven't medaled in consecutive Yeats amd each time we've risen back amd taken home the gold on multiple occasions since.

Keep the faith, Canada. There is always next year!

Who are most of these people?
ATHLETE COMMITTEE

Hockey Canada announced eight current and former players have been elected by their peers to form its new national team athlete committee.

Billy Bridges, Michael Mastrodomenico, Tyler McGregor, Bailey Mitchell, Markus Phillips, Alyssa Regalado, former NHLer Kyle Turris and Kendra Woodland will each serve multi-year terms.

Hockey Canada said the committee — set to represent high-performance athletes across men’s, women’s and para — will meet quarterly at a minimum and be empowered to make recommendations on issues impacting their fellow national team athletes.

Canada has, (on paper) better roster almost every time. This year included i would say on paper the best roster is USA, followed by Canada.

I have no dog in this fight, but people trashing them for picking wrong players is wrong IMO. If they left 10 best players out, they should still be one of the favs to win the tournament. So, saying that, shouldn't the blame go to coaching or am i crazy?

Plenty of blame to go around.

I wanted to go with better players that were available because it would give us greater odds...

Not sure why you're arguing lol

It's like a sens fan saying they would rather dress stutzle as the number 1 center in their lineup than Pinto... And then some non sens fan argues that it doesn't matter or you don't know if stutzle would perform better than Pinto...or how the Calgary flames won a game in 2003 against the president's trophy winning senators despite not having iginla dressed...therefore Ottawa fans should be ok with pinto instead of stutzle.

It makes no sense. I'm not sure why you're trying to argue with sens fans that they would rather pinto over stutzle or with Canada fans that they would have rather picked better players that were available.

Its nothing like Pinto over Stutzle, further you know what my point is about the 1980 Team and 2016 US Team. The 1980 Team suffered significant losses from a small player pool and beat one of the greatest teams in history and won Gold.

Canada has such a large pool of very good players they should still be able to make the SF.

You underperformed period. Shoulda, coulda, woulda, is the losers lament.

Why the f*** do you keep spamming the 1980 US Olympic team? A win so improbably that it was dubbed a miracle... so what? It has zero relevance to anything that anyone has said in this thread.

No, no-one understands your 1980 comparison.
As you listed players that weren’t qualified to even play in the Olympics. 🤣

It’s like the poster that said they didn’t have Pasternak available for WJC this year.

Not to mention it was 45 years ago and wasn’t a WJC competition, ya let’s compare oranges and crayons lol

That’s why posters are saying we should have taken better players lol. What are you even saying at this point, you’re adding nothing to the conversation

This is what you really wanted to say, just to gloat.

Just say it earlier next time pal instead of talking about the 1980s!

You want to rationalize every loss and by doing so denigrate whoever actually wins (Finland\US) this is absolutely the response you earned and deserve for being a crybaby.

Only crybaby I’ve seen in here so far is yourself.
because You couldn’t get some NHL players on your 1880 team, that weren’t even eligible to play for the team, yet you keep crying about it.
And actually think that anyone cares 😂

Czechs having some fun with Canada requesting an apology from the IIHF for the reffing.lol

I will say, and I think Canadian hockey is on the rise based on the last 5 drafts, that everything any member of Hockey Canada has said has sounded bad.

Love Canadian hockey on the ice
Not a fan of Hockey Canada as an organization

Sorry

Gloating? That's rich seeing how probably 80% of the Canadians on this site make it an art form with their teams. Guess you guys don't like humble pie.
