Watching the Canadiens have 27 shots in the 2nd period in tonight's game, I'm wondering what's the record for shots in a single period. Regular season and playoffs?

I think the record is 33 shots in a single period.
I don't have the official info but I remember hearing this at one time.

Edit: I looked it up this morning, it is indeed 33 from a game between Boston and Chicago in 1941. Haven't found the Playoff record yet.

What's the record for fewest shots in one PO game? I recently heard that in game 6 NJD_TOR 20000 Brodeur stopped all 6 shots. Awesome!

That game where Boston blasted over 70 shots on goal against Quebec didn't have 33 in a period I guess? Around 1991 or so.

No.

1 2 3 4 T
Quebec Nordiques 7 12 5 2 26
Boston Bruins 17 19 25 12 73

Ray Bourque had an NHL record 19 shots that night.

That was Ron Tugnutt standing n his head.....and it wasn't all perimeter stuff either, a great many of those shots were quality chances. I watched that game on tv, he was in a zone.

Does it have to be in NHL?

This has to be the record. Game: United Arab Emirates - HC Silver Lions (St. Petersburg). 81 shots in first period. 57 in the second and 66 in the third. Final score 60-0
