3 gold medals in the last 5 years.
Skill, speed and size. Tonight, the American defence was faster than the Finns forwards. It was a complete mismatch. They only develop 1 guy a year good enough to play in the NHL as a teenager while Canada produces 3-5 that’s what’s going right for them
Hockey and Soccer aren't popular enough for USA to ever be the best. There's enough juice to be a top 20-ish team or so in soccer and a top 2-ish team in hockey (because it's not that popular globally). They are better at hockey than everyone else, that’s what is right.
Why wouldn’t they be? Largest economic power and much more resources than any other nation. They should be the best every year no question as they will be at soccer in the next 20 years.
NCAA is also the place to play now and Canadians are realizing that.
There’s nothing better than Canadian copium. They only develop 1 guy a year good enough to play in the NHL as a teenager while Canada produces 3-5 that’s what’s going right for them
That and they practicedthey dont take hockey as seriously as Canada (this isn't the only thing in the world for us) and thus can chill out and win
I will rarely watch non best on best hockey, I simply could care less… Why would I watch a u20 tournament when the best two players aren’t in it?There’s nothing better than Canadian copium.
I mean, whatever lets you sleep at night. They only develop 1 guy a year good enough to play in the NHL as a teenager while Canada produces 3-5 that’s what’s going right for them
You don’t watch it but god help anyone who tries to stop you from crying on a message board about it…I will rarely watch non best on best hockey, I simply could care less… Why would I watch a u20 tournament when the best two players aren’t in it?
Valid point....Bedard and Celebrini could be on Canada. They only develop 1 guy a year good enough to play in the NHL as a teenager while Canada produces 3-5 that’s what’s going right for them
Canada remains at the top of the hockey world… With Bedard, Celebrini and McKenna coming… Hockey Canada is a strong as it’s ever been and will not lose a single game in the 4 Nations tournament or Olympics… Or any other competition that is best on best.I mean, whatever lets you sleep at night.
Seems like the tides are turning to me.
yes to an extent. But lets sing the praises of the US development program. They really spent money, coaching and time on developing players who are paying off. NCAA getting better doesn't hurt either.Hockey and Soccer aren't popular enough for USA to ever be the best. There's enough juice to be a top 20-ish team or so in soccer and a top 2-ish team in hockey (because it's not that popular globally).
So much U.S. sporting resources are devoted towards Football, Basketball and Baseball. Also strong in Summer Olympic sports where USA typically does the best globally. Ultimately the country is very well rounded but for a sport like hockey, they need Canada to mess up to ever really consistently be the best hockey nation, and soccer is pretty unlikely to ever seriously surpass the big European and South American nations.
Inject this copium straight into my veins.Canada remains at the top of the hockey world… With Bedard, Celebrini and McKenna coming… Hockey Canada is a strong as it’s ever been and will not lose a single game in the 4 Nations tournament or Olympics… Or any other competition that is best on best.
Canada would have won at least 13 of the last 14 WJC if it was best on best no doubt.. Not this USA make a wish tournament
