Personally, I want Strome nowhere near this coaching and his line formations. We aren't winning the cup, and watching Strome either watching from the press box in wild wonder (did that once already) or skating around with Boulton/Reasoner and Aucoin is doing more harm than good.

I think he can sign an ATO with BPORT that wont burn a year off his ELC....

I cant see him playing for the Isles this year...

esspecially if we are lucky enough to get Lee signed I dont see the Isles making a push with both of them up wth the big club

Strome's ELC would slide if he plays in the AHL but is not called up and plays at least 6 NHL games. I'd have him in Bridgeport.

Between April 4 and April 21 the Sound Tigers play 9 games.... 7 of them are Home games.

I would expect to see him there most/all of that time. (Unless Bridgeport gets Red Hot, they aren't making the playoffs).

Then that puts the Calender at April 22, the Islanders with 3 Road games Left (Carolina, Philly, Buffalo) it's possible he plays those games, as it has already been said in this thread, his ELC slides with fewer than 6 NHL games played.

Let him go to Bridgeport. If he shows there that he can dominate against bigger/stronger players for a few games, call him up.

season ends Strome will travel with the Isles but to get him in a game,the Isles would have to get rid
of someone off the 23 man roster, something they will have to do when Lee signs. Don't think they want to clear two off the 23.

Rose and Staple both indicated Lee will join the isles this season. Great news. I'd been worried about him pulling a Justin Schultz. Glad to be wrong, have to eat crow here .

Lee is 3 yrs older then Strome and a lot taller/heavier. If he is not scoring, he can still play a phyical role.

Notre Dame has a lot invested in Lee"s scholarship and Lee wants to get his degree (as a teacher of 36 years who has helped students get into Notre Dame) this was always about education.

Most of those schools make sure their players come back and finish their degrees, esp if they only have a year left. They can easily go back in the summers and finish up one year of classes.

He is a center, always has been, always will be. Unless he plays a gear or two on jt's rw.

His linemates in port? Who knows he's best with big wingers that dig pucks along the boards and corners. I would try kabanov and persson

Strome should not sniff the NHL. Especially with the Islanders looking like they are serious about trying to make the post season.

If the Islanders were long eliminated i could see them throwing Strome into the NHL just to give Islanders fans a reason to watch.

That being said, I would love to see Strome in Bridge. With guys like Nelson and Nino becoming more and more well versed in the A, Strome will be able to slide in with little expectations IMO.

Secondly, as far as Lee, I don't know how much their hockey program is like their football program but ND takes pride in their STUDENT athletes staying all four years. They want them to get their degree before they pursue an athletic career.

I don't think Strome is NHL ready but at the same time, could he be any worse than Reasoner? Maybe on faceoffs but thats it. If we weren't in a playoff race I'd be more in a hurry to bring him to the NHL now but I would like to see how he handles the speed of it.

I wonder how many credits shy Lee is now? I don't know if ND has the same protocols in place as they did in the mid to late 1980s but I knew one of the RBs on that team(one that they used to dress up in the other teams uniform to beat on in practice and only dressed for home gamse so not Pinkett) and he told me at the time that all the players had to take extra classes and be at least one semester ahead in credits in order to play. Notre Dame does take pride in their academics but I am think it likely that something could be worked out to make sure he graduates if he is a few credits shy.

Junior aged players can play in the AHL as long as their junior team's season is done. The rule just basically prevents junior aged players from playing in the AHL while their junior team is still playing. That's why Strome couldn't start the year in Bridgeport.

That stupid rule only applies to European skaters drafted into the OHL or something dumb like that.

It applies to everyone drafted out of the CHL. The reason Strome can now play in the AHL is because of the above.
