What's going on with Andre Svechnikov

He's the second/third best forward of that draft with Marchenko. Was nearly point per game last year. 2018 was just an absolute disaster draft in general for forwards. Tkatchuk/Svech/Marchenko and then a bunch of meh.
50-60 pts only because he missed some games every season
He's always on pace for more
But yes, he's not progressing as probably was expected

He runs very hot and cold. Aside from dealing with injuries, he for whatever reason just hasn’t developed the consistency that you’d expect from a seasoned player. His hot streaks have him looking like a physical 40 goal threat, but he’s so quiet during his cold streaks that he ends up averaging in the high 20s, which is a step down from what was expected of him based on his size, skills, and workmanlike attitude.
He’s still only 24 so there’s a little bit of time left for him to mature, but his current G-A-P pace is almost exactly his career average, so he’s reaching “what you see is what you get” status.

I mean....on a PPG basis, he's pretty darn close to Tkcachuk, odd to single him out really....what about #3 pick that draft?

I don’t think it’s singling him out, more asking why he his production hasn’t taken a step forward. Svechnikov has shown the ability and is obviously very talented. Carolina has a great team and I wonder if in a different situation he shines more as an individual.

He definitely does get buried in the lineup a bit, as he’s not a good fit with Aho and doesn’t bring enough defensively to be on the Staal line. His career ice time average is only 16:50 which is a full minute less than Tkachuk.

He's had a major (out ~1.5-2 months) injury in 4 out of 7 of his seasons so far.
It's hard to go Draft Pedigree Super Saiyan when that keeps happening, but he's been productive the entire time.

Constant injuries have Derailed him but he also doesn't seem to have great chemistry with anyone on the roster. Neither does Necas. They're counter to a guy like Jarvis who seems to find chemistry with anyone you put him with.

Oddly enough one of the big things holding him back is that he seems to play "too nice". He's still a league leader in hits amongst forwards most years but when he's at his best he's hitting everything that moves. The Boston series in the first round a few years back is a perfect example. He was playing like the best player on the ice for either team by a good margin and throwing his weight around until the Lindholm hit, after that he backed off on the physical stuff and wasn't as effective. A guy like MT or Wilson would be looking for the next guy to send into next season and ending the series ASAP.

Seems like a streaky player. He always seems to be either coming into his peak or having an underwhelming year.

He’s a little too nice a guy. He struggles to consistently play that physical game that keeps him more involved and makes him valuable whether he’s scoring or not.
He’s struggling with confidence holding the puck since his last injury, and I do think he hasn’t gotten his full stride back. He never had quick feet so it seems at times he’s lost a little speed. He’s the kind of skater that builds up power and speed as he goes turning him into a bowling ball, not a ton of explosiveness even without the injuries.

If he has a stretch of a couple of healthy seasons (And offseasons so he can work on his game), feel like he's going to really take off.

I think hes every bit as good as Brady when healthy but since hes never healthy, its a moot point.

Hes a bit of a lone wolf because he doesn’t exactly gel amazing with anyone in the team. Like he can play anywhere and ‘fit in’ but he hasn’t found super chemistry with anyone while on Carolina.
When he’s hot he goes beast mode and takes over games. Hes just gotta do that more consistently. He also plays off emotion a ton and sometimes he gets hot headed and does dumb shit.
Still a lot of refinement in his game that needs to happen for him to get to that ppg level and beyond.

He's obviously talented, but he seems a bit overrated to me on this site. It seems people are always expecting him to take that next step offensively. Maybe his ceiling is actually about 75 points.
