What's best case scenario for Habs this season in terms of how high in the standings they could finish?

24-25th? Because Allen is actually a pretty good Goalie , But Defence will be attrocioius. Yes go for Bedard, but it's suppossed to be a great draft Year! #GHG. R. Still Lottery eligibale for #1.

Chicago, Arizona, maybe Philadelphia will play worst... Unless the injury bug kicks in and we play AHL players again.

injuries already starting in Montreal its not even preseason. Edmundson out, Suzuki out, Byron out (who cares) Monohan still hurt. Small teams like Montreal are going to get hammered all year, injuries should pass 350 man games once again this year. Our blueline is so pathetic and soft.

It’s a 100% guarantee IMO Habs won’t beat out Yotes and Hawks for bottom-2 of standings…

I fully expect a reversion to norm from the likes of Gallagher (30G+), Dvorak (40pts), Monahan (60pts+) & Drouin (50pts+). Also expect the Matheson & Dadonov acquisitions to contribute in improving PP productivity.

I expect Habs will end up with 8-15OA pick next draft.

I agree here.

They won't be nearly as bad as most people think unless Allen gets hurt or implodes as the #1G, or we get a massive rash of injuries to key guys like Suzuki/Matheson.

Top to bottom the roster is full of vets & young players with a ton to prove, a head coach that gets how to empower players while challenging them & a rare situation of zero expectations in an otherwise high scrutiny market.

To finish bottom 3-5 in the league typically requires some serious implosion (unless a team is outright tanking like the yotes or Hawks), and after last year's mess, seems unlikely we'll see a repeat of as many things going wrong as last year.

8-12OA seems likely imo, fighting for a playoff spot before deadline sell offs.

Unless Primeau becomes first goalie, I don't think they will finish higher than bottom 5.
Or in points, not more than 60.
So the final position will depend on how bad other teams are.

I agree with a few others here – a semi-healthy Habs roster will finish 8-12th from the bottom. Offence is better than expected. A healthier Allen makes the goaltending mediocre. The wildcard is defence – depending on Edmundson's health, Matheson, and rookies, our D could be as good as 'meh' and as bad as a shooting gallery.

I'm not expecting a top-5 pick; too many things have to go wrong again.

This team would need prime Price to exit bottom 3-5 territory.

Defense will be very green and terrible, think last year but worse. Allen is alright but he's no savior, I don't see him winning many games by himself like Price did back in the days. The forward group will score some goals but overall it's still pretty weak and ill balanced -- too many wingers, a collection of mediocre/finished deadwood, some decent vets and a few talented young players.

The stars are aligned for a solid tank year.

To many unknowns. Lots of young new faces and unproven players.
If they can surprise and exceed expectations that's great. That probably means we're closer than not.

* Can Suzuki, Caufield, Montembeault & Dach be better?
* Can Slaf make an impact sooner than later?
* Whose ready now and what are their ceilings? Guhle, Barron, Harris, Xhekaj, Norlinder etc.

On the other side...
* Can Gallagher, Armia & Hoffman rebound?
* Can Anderson be more productive?
* How's Matheson & Monahan going to look?

I think Dvorak & Savard will be a bit better. They just need to stay healthy.

No poll? Long term the team will be better off bottom 5. As this draft is actually strong the habs will probably be outtanked and pick low teens. No hope of playoffs, still miss out on good picks.

Caufield and Suzuki better? They were already both at close to PPG pace with MSL and the team still couldn't muster more than a 71pts pace over 82 games and that was with Lekhonen, Chiarot and Kulak helping the team in its high until they got traded.

In a perfect world where everything goes right, we won't get more than 75 points and that would be a tremendous turnaround, gaining 20 points over the previous season.

We're already at 82 games lost to injury with Price out, now Edmundson is out indefinitely also, on top of losing many players who helped us in MSL's good sequence.

Who in the Atlantic can we surpass? Ottawa, Detroit and Buffalo all have much better rosters. In all likelyhood, we'll finish last in the Atlantic, which will bring us somewhere between dead last and 8th last.

Caufield just played his rookie season and Suzuki was given the 1C match ups with the lose of Danault. To think that they can't both be better going forward with the experience gained doesn't seem crazy to me. It's a read between the lines question. How much better can they be? I don't think either have peaked.

The defense is a big question mark. Between Harris, Guhle & Barron, that's like 40 NHL games of experience.

My expectations for this season are low. A lot of things have to go our way for us to be a much better team.

How high can they go? Low enough that it doesn't really move the needle.

I suspect the gap between the playoff and non playoff teams is going to shrink, while montreal stays behind.

It's really hard to see anything other than last place in the division.
