OT: Whatcha Playin? 4.0

Played Cyberpunk for a month or so, right now it's Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart (almost done), and also some College Football 25.

After R&C, will see what Playstation Plus Extra has in it's catalogue (was there I found R&C). Maybe Life Is Strange 2 or something.

I've been into rogulikes lately.

Indie games are where the innovativion and novelty are.

I've been playing Hellcard which is like slay the spire with co op. Really fun.

Also Emberward which is a tower defense roguelite.

I'm embarrassed to admit how many hours I have into PoE.

I'm surprised PoE2 hasn't grabbed me yet. Although the leagues feel like a marathon and I think I went too hard on Settlers to be ready for PoE2.
endgame is a mess, but considering they threw it together in less than a month before EA launch... not surprising

the bones are good, though

Star Wars Outlaws is finally growing on me. I started it and grew bored trying to get going but now I am off the first planet and its a lot better. Guess the update helped a lot also. I have old stand by State of Decay 2 in the middle of a "lets clear each map with one community" play through. Such a good game, hope they don't ruin it with SoD3

Balatro is on my phone! Not good for my life!

But this morning I cracked the game and started getting 5 billion chip hands. Turns out if you want to get to Ante 14 you’re talking about getting into the trillions. Unreasonably happy about this performance.

Wait until you start getting e10+ hands. Then once you get lucky enough for those, you’ll want to work towards officially “beating” the game and getting a score so high that it just says NaN x NaN when you play a hand.

God, parrying is tough!
One of the best games I have ever played. Going through a NG+ route right now. Just can't stop haha.

It is tough indeed, especially when certain enemies like to just let their attack/swing just kind of hang in mid-air before actually letting the attack reach you.
I got used to the system a decent bit but there are still a few that give me trouble here and there.

I actually got to meet one of the top guys from Matrix/ Slitherine games at a military conference the other week. We put Command: Modern Operations up on one of our monitors with the China/Taiwan invasion scenario playing and they came over and were like "Why do you have our game up at your booth??" which started an interesting conversation. My dream job would be to work for Slitherine helping them design military strategy games.

There was a whole section at that convention where military officers were playing both tabletop and computer wargames against each other. They apparently have a government version of Command that they sell to DoD for use in training. Pretty cool couple weeks of trade shows, if you can ignore the nightmares I've had after seeing all the dreadful AI and robotic weaponry that is out there.

Playing a game called "The Victim" it's a real life role play where you go around blaming everyone else for your own short comings. Most fun I've had in years, and the graphics are great.
I find the plot pretty unplausible and stupid.

Does anyone like Starfield? I just got a new Cyberpower PC after 10 years with the last one. Didn't realize Steam was going to throttle the download to take an entire day so haven't gotten to play it yet.

I quite liked it, though I saw it as a solid enough base for bethesda to build off. Some of the quest design is stupid, but I had fun playing it.

Update: been playing Starfield for a month now. It is amazing, as you'd expect from any Bethesda game. The seamless transition between first person shooter and piloting spacecraft is truly great, and the space mechanics are really cool.

However- the game is buggy as hell, especially as you advance through the game. I mean, game breaking type stuff. Too many quests in too open a game leading to overlapping conflicts which stroke out gameplay on the regular.

As such- cannot recommend. If I pay that much for a game I shouldn't need to research command line prompts to fix gameplay.

It’s a Bethesda game. Bugs are part of the charm. I honestly can’t remember the last Bethesda game that didn’t have game-breaking bugs as part of the original game. Which is why Bethesda games also have such a large modding scene, because without that, they’d be unplayable.

I passed on Starfield because space games typically aren’t my cup of tea, and on the rare occasions that I do get that craving, No Man’s Sky is still releasing major updates for free, despite being an almost 10-year-old game at this point.

The next major game I’m looking forward to is Borderlands 4, though I will admit the new trend of games being $80 has really put a hamper on my desire to purchase any games in the near future.

Clare Obscur: Expedition 33. Just finished Act 2 last night and if the game stopped here I think it still would be in contention for game of the year. I can't wait to see if they stick the landing.

Yatzy on an offline games app, on my Phone. Sometimes switch over to Battleship. I mean, what else is more perfect when on the throne at work?
