What you HOPE happens vs. what you BELIEVE will happen

Hope: The find a way to put together a world class hockey team by using restraint.

Reality: Regardless of what long term fans think, the Rangers make a **** ton of money, so the final decisions will come down to maximizing revenue that is often counter intuitive to how can a non cup winning team make so much money?

I made a comment about this a while ago, that Dolan is against a firesale unless we reach Knicks-level stupidity. The playoff gate revenue is a high priority. Someone then pointed out the Yankees' firesale and quick rebound. We should be so lucky.

HOPE: Bring back the NHL on FOX animated goal robots to distract me from the Amtrak derailments that are happening on the ice.
BELIEVE: We will be on the bubble near season's end. Can't even say we'll make the playoffs.

To play devil's advocate:

1. Do you believe the Rangers have a good shot at the Cup?
2. Do you believe Grabner will cost significantly more next year?
3. Do you believe Grabner can bring back fairly good assets this year?
1. No
2. Who knows?
3. Not really. He brings a lot to this team. We need all the offense we can get. If you want to just sell assets, why does it have to be Grabner? He's relatively cheap. If anything, it's Hank that should be looking to wave his NMC and really just tank then so we can get real assets in the draft. ?? Maybe another Hugh Jessiman. (LOL)

Grabner's an expiring contract who can fetch us a decent return, and can theoretically be resigned in the offseason. It makes no sense to keep him unless you're going all in. And that would be stupider than Vigneault's lineup calls
