NYR:
F: Zib, Bread, Kreider, Trocheck, Chytil, Laf, Kakko
D: Fox, Trouba, Miller
G: Igor

Exposed: Goodrow (I think he's gone this offseason though), Vesey, Lindgren, Domingue(?)
I ***THINK*** Schneider would be exempt if it was an Exp Draft this offseason specifically
Picked: I assume Lindgren, but Vesey is a sneaky good bottom 6 player for absolutely dirt cheap

I exaggerated a bit.
Panarin, Kreider, Trouba, Trocheck, Goodrow, Zibanejad.
Igor has a modified one but he's not going anywhere anyway.

You lose somebody you want to keep. Or you pay assets to have other players chosen. Nothing you can do about it. Maybe you can somebody to waive, unlikely with those mentioned names. A realistic look would be

Panarin, Zibanejad, Trocheck, Goodrow, Kreider, Chtyil, (Kakko/Laf)
Trouba, Fox, Miller,
Igor Shesterkin
Exposed - Schneider, Lindgren, Kakko/Laf, Halak, Vesey, Harpur, brodzinski (?), (currently, Tarasenko, Kane, Motte, Mikkola)

Looking at CapFriendly, I think we're safe on the Goodrow front. He has a M-NTC, not a NMC thank god.

Tough to do for Ottawa right now with the Cat on DeBrinc of being traded but:

7F: Stützle, Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, Giroux, Pinto, DeBrincat/his replacement

3D: Sanderson, Chabot, Chychrun

1G: Forsberg (unless we trade for a true #1)

If Sanderson would be exempt, obviously Zub is the one to protect.

Zub is clearly the guy that would be taken

Available: Olofsson, Jost (RFA), Girgensons (UFA), Hinostroza (UFA), Jokiharju, Bryson, Stillman, Clague (RFA), Comrie

Yeah we are fine with 3.

The f*** kind of troll response is this? There is zero reason to give up Perron, Fabbri, Walman, Maata, Kubalik, and Big Ras for free. They may not be elite pieces but they’re still great, affordable depth assets that many teams would give up actual assets for. Id probably keep Husso too; he’s had his moments.

They can take Zadina or Chiarot all day long though.

If its for the 24-25 season you can expose CK and Trouba.

7F: Keller Schmaltz Hayton Crouse Macelli McBain Flex (Fischer/Jenik/Carcone/Imama)
6D: Nemeth Valimaki Crotty Brown (We literally don't have enough defenseman to protect)
G: Vejmelka or Ingram

Exempt: Basically everyone
Available: Jenik, Fischer, Kassian, O'brien, Ritchie, Ingram, Prosvetov

If we had to protect Little too because he wasn't ruled as having an injury long enough than we probably lose Fischer, Jenik, Imama, Kassian, Ritchie, Ingram or Prosvetov.

I’d probably protect Foegele over Kostin but otherwise spot on.

Kulak likely gets claimed in either scenario. Easily the best player not protected.

I admit, I am not 100% confident in who is and isn’t exempt since this is such a young team with so many rookies/fringe players. Marchenko & Jiricek for sure exempt. Not sure about Kent Johnson (10.2 this off-season) or Nick Blankenburg. If KJ isn’t exempt, obviously he’s protected over Foudy. The only two NMC are players who would be protected anyway, too.

Left exposed: Robinson, Peeke, Provorov, Roslovic, Bemstrom, Bean, Tarasov, Olivier, Gudbranson

Yeah, I was just posting for if it took place this offseason. If the poster said 2024-2025, I missed it. But as another poster point out, goody has a modified one as well. But I can see the organization making some dumb move and keeping him.

KJ, Tarasov and Provorov (since they just traded for him) would be protected.

Seth Jones (NMC)
Connor Murphy (still tradeable)

I'm sure management would keep a few others just to fill out the roster (Raddysh, Dickinson, etc.) but nobody is untouchable.

Good idea for a summer thread.

I'll take shot at the Jets, although it's 100% pointless since the roster will be torched in the next 3 weeks:

F: Wheeler (NMC), Scheifele, Connor, Ehlers, Dubois, Lowry, Perfetti
D: Morrissey, Samberg, Demelo
G: Hellebuyck

Exposed:
F: Neiderreier, Gustafsson, Barron, Stenlund
D: Pionk, Dillon, Schmidt, Stanley, Heinola (!)

UFAs: Rittich, Namestnikov, few others

It is crazy-remarkable to me that Kostin could appear on anybody's protected list after being claimed on waivers.

That either speaks to Kostin's dedication to improving his art, or Edmonton's sorry state of depth. I'm not 100% sure which it is. But good on 'the other KK' for at least getting into the discussion. He lost out on a numbers game in STL; but I'm not unconvinced that the he could be a helluva a weapon in a middle-6 role for somebody, or that he couldn't be Tom Wilson-lite when he's 27. Kid is an animal. Putin could use him.

Kostin was, without exaggeration, very good for us. He's still quite green and makes defensive mistakes at non-ideal times which is why his icetime got chopped in the playoffs, but he's incredibly physical, tough as nails, and has a wicked shot. The only reason I'd be protecting Foegele instead of Kostin is we have no idea what he's looking for as far as salary goes and he has arbitration rights.
