What would you trade Larkin for... a thought exercise

lol.

Your creating a hypothetical scenario. Why do you choose specifically to over pay them in your hypothetical? What if you decided to compensate them to what they are worth?

Would this get us 4 first round picks entering their prime? How many 19 year olds are carrying their teams to Stanley Cups? I'd rather have a 30 year old and a 31 year old
Someone taken in the next two drafts will be 22 or 21 in 4 yrs.

Larkin and DeBrincat will be 12yrs older, and at the end of their careers.

1) They are good hockey players (a few of the best we have currently)
2) They are both from here and seem to enjoy being here
3) You have no idea how they are going to age or decline
4) You are not guaranteed to find replacements for them that are equal or better
I’ll take Yzerman’s current hit rate of 100% on 1st Rd picks, thanks.

When was the last actual 1C for 1C trade? Turgeon for Lafontaine?
I don't want to see Larkin traded, I don't think he will be traded but out of curiousity who would you prefer to target in a 1 for 1 trade?
Not sure about 1 for 1.

It doesn't have to be a one for one trade. Attaching picks and/prospects for an upgrade/younger would be fine.

Ok, you deal with Raymond and Seider banging on your door asking why you are trading away 2 of your best players for lottery tickets when you are very close to making the playoffs 2 years in a row.
Because I can make the core better for the length of your contracts here and because I can replace them with equal veterans, and add more, making us a better team next season.

If you don’t think there is potentially a significant margin of error with your plan, I don’t know what to tell you.

You’re talking about this all like it’s a lock, when it’s anything but.

Yes the safe pick to make the NHL. Now I give him full credit for Seider, Raymond (hard to mess that one up), and Edvinsson for sure. But those are top line/d-pair players. Kasper, Danielson, and MBN may not be. That’s fine but where do we get the other two top line players from once Larkin slows down?

You're not getting Tavares, Marchand, etc. to sign here without Larkin and Debrincat being here. And if we somehow did get those guys to sign, we're not then dealing Larkin and Debrincat when we're looking at the best team we've iced since our last finals appearance. At that point, we're dealing other guys to make room to shore up the blueline.

Why take a boat when you can have a mystery box that might have a boat in it!

He’s hit on 100% of his 1st Rd picks thus far. Hitting on 50% of these 4 1st Rd picks…….and trading Larkin/DeBrincat for two good players a decade younger…….would be a complete coup.

And the odds are that he would probably hit on at least 3.

Can you elaborate on your definition of ‘hit?’

Is it make the NHL? Is it have an impact once there? Is it exceed expectations?

if larks were to go on the market there would be a huge bidding war , very under appreciated player cuz he doesnt have gaudy offensive numbers . and no one ever takes into account the junk rosters hes played on since day one , has never had help til dcat n ray arrived . and look how good he made mantha n tuzzi look ! ands still not had serious offensive help from defense . and concerning the press conference comments anybody CONSTANTLY having to deal with nhl media gonna eventually have a gloomy moment . lot of pressure put on captains by nhl media . if im a gm i put a limit on how often my captain can be grilled , and also designate a couple other veteran guys on roster to speak in larkins usual place lots of times . mean while i dont want larkin traded , hes here to lead the next RED WAVE
