What would you like to see from Alex Galchenyuk this year?

50 points. That would be slightly above last years productivity and demonstration of his ability to be consistent through a full season. Something like 20g 30a would be ideal.

I prefer chucky on the wing myself, seems he allows himself to take more risks offensively from the wing.

And that's what we want from him, right?

What do I want to see from him? I'm hoping for 55 points or more.

Absolutely not.

You should always want your top forwards to be capable of playing center. They have the puck on their stick far more often and are never too far removed from the puck. I want him to create plays which is best accomplished in the center of the ice. His game is not a straight, simple up and down game that is expected of wingers.

It's more like Eller is overrated on the Habs board, tbh.

I like him and all, but at 23-24 he had a whole 2 points more than 18-19 yo. Galchenyuk. And Eller had 2:30 mins. more icetime per game.

Eller played 90min more than Eller overall. 67 of those minutes were him playing on the PK. There's only a 40min at ES and Galchenyuk got about 20 more minutes on the PP.
Not to mention, Eller got scratched (for no real apparent reason) early in the year, and then was stuck on the 4th line until Therrien got his head out of his ass.

So ya, it's not that simply ''a whole 2pts more than an 19yo while getting 2:30 more of ice time per game'', not at all.
And if you want to be precise, it's 3pts, not two, and that's only 3 less than what Plekanec had.
Also, you're talking about linemates.

It's not because Galchenyuk and Gallagher had amazing years that Eller isn't that great. Not every kid has the same progression. Eller took more time, but he was coming along very nicely next year. Hopefully he'll keep it up.

You forgot to point out lol @ comparing Eller to basically a #1 draft pick. To compare him to Galchenyuk is comparing apples to watermelons. Its even more extreme than apples and oranges.

Solid two way hockey
Continued Clutch play
More physical edge
Power play minutes
15-20 goals
Improve tremendous learning curve

We've got a very special kid here, and he has the abilities to dominate for years. I think he needs a guy like Prust to help with the dirty areas and open some space up on his line. A third line of Prust - Galchenyuk - Gallagher would be great.

By the end of the year, I would like to see Galchenyuk transition to center, and have a 47+ FO per centage
Same. I think the decision was already made this summer.

Galchenyuk, Eller, Plekanec. DD GTFO.

I've yet to see Chucky control the play and be the best player on the ice like Eller showed us last year. Eller is nothing short of a beauty.

Well, Eller was almost a top 10 pick... It's like comparing Kane to Couture or Baertschi to Huberdeau ...

Cool, calm, collected.

Another c word you can add to that list somebody already mentioned.

Clutch. These are the guys you want out there with 30 seconds to go and you need something to happen.

You know what is worse? Comparing a 24yo. to a 19yo.! ;)

When we're talking about established players, their draft rank should not even be a factor, IMO. It's like saying Subban's Norris is worth more than Karlsson's because he was drafted in the 2nd round??

Look, I like Eller and all, but he's 24 and we can all see that he still does not project to anything more than a 2nd line center with a good 2-way game. He's not 20 anymore, at some point, you'll have to realize that what you see is what you get.

Galchenyuk is 19 and could do the same thing (or better) as soon as this year or the next.

Hence, I don't think that saying Chuckie > Eller is underrating Eller at all.

What franchise would draft a prototype 1st round center with all the skill and size you need to play in NHL and put him on the wing for an undersized 5'5 hobbit with limited skating ability. I'm seriously trying to think what team would not only have a 5'5 center to begin with, but go as far as take your future star out of his natural position.

+1
:handclap:

Galchenyuk, Eller, Plekanec. DD GTFO.

DD was the best player on the ice yesterday and looked liked his 2011-2012 self for that brief period of time.

If he can carry that sort of play into the season, why would he have to GTFO? When DD plays the way he should play, he's a great playmaker that can create offense on the top 9. I'd like to see him on the wings to eventually move back Galchenyuk to center, but that will entirely depend on how they both play.

Development isn't linear.
For now, Eller is the better player.
How do you know Eller will only be a 2nd liner ? He's 23 and playing better than ever, not only that but aside from Chucky, he's our forward with the most raw abilities. What did Eller do to you ?

60 pts, and second best scorer after Pacioretty. Finishes the season playing C.

I'd like to see him a bit more involved physically but I would be OK if he isn't.
