Probably like 25%, and at least 20%. The youth will make a jump and the team will be healthier this season.

If the players can avoid the IR and if the kids can avoid sophomore slumps, the team should progress compared to the past two seasons. However, the division is still very strong.

20-40%, I think they'll be an almost-bubble team (out of the bottom 10, but not good enough to make the playoffs yet)

12-15% i. could make f suzuki caufield improve, SLAF improves and we have guys like hoffman, armia etc play over their heads + monahan healthy all year + gallagher resurgence

10%. There would have to be a serious downfall in the division, but I don’t see it. Habs on par with Red Wings for now. Sens, it depends what they get for Debrincat. The rest are clearly better teams.

I think you can pretty much lock Boston, Toronto and Tampa Bay. I don't see how any of those teams could really fall off the top 3 .

That leaves one spot. Even if Montreal does progress, I think Florida and Buffalo are miles ahead of them. Even Ottawa is probably in a better position.

I don't see it happening this year.

I don't think it's as dire as many others, but a lot depends on us not only being much healthier but Montembeault proving himself which is a big wildcard.

Slim to none unless Monty goes apeshit hall of fame on the habs.

I want to cheer them on to win though, no more of this reverso stuff.

I say between 20 and 40%.

If Suzuki/Caufield take a little step forward while guys like Dach, Slaf, Guhle, Xhekaj, Newhook, Barron, Monty also take steps forward, I'm close to your range 20-40%.

Other factors are Monahan, Matheson, and even Gallagher, Hoffman, Armia.

If this roster stays healthy, I think they will be on the cusp group.

Maybe this post belongs in the doom and gloom thread, but it doesn't look pretty.

I'm hopeful to see how the team does if they stay healthy, but let's be real, even a healthy lineup doesn't look great comparatively.

Do we have a better forward than any team in our division? Do we have a better Dman than any team? How about a Goalie (maybe but debatable)?

I think there's an argument we have the worst #1 of goalie, forward, and Dman, in our division. Our depth is better, but not miles better and certainly not the best.

I was kind of thinking if healthy we could bounce up to around ~20th-22nd, but now looking at everything I wouldn't be surprised if we finish bottom of the Atlantic, and closer to 28.

Pretty much a copy/paste of a post I did the dev camp thread but it might be more relevant to here.

I don't think we'll make the playoffs but I also don't think we're going to be as bad as many here think. I'm not sitting here saying we're going to be good by any means, but before Monahan got hurt last year, it wasn't nearly as bad as it was afterward.

I expect it to be a lot of the same. We had extremely young D last year, and they all did okay. The fact that all of our young guys are older and healthy at the start of the year can't hurt.

I don't believe in Monty as a starter yet, so goaltending will probably be mid. If we stay healthy, I expect a bottom-15 finish.

Before answering that, got a few questions. What are the starting lineups for every team in the division? Will Montreal be icing the best players? Will Montreal be actually playing and coaching to win?
