Just picked the obvious ones, trade jeff and stuart skinners if you can, they are movable in some respect. Open up cap space to try for a starting goalie. Then, if possible, go for the top 4 d with what assets we have available.

Try to stay in the playoff hunt until things open up (and more options are available) in the new year.
The best opportunities to improve the team are going to happen when its clear that certain teams (who expected to be better) are not likely to make the playoffs.

I went with:

1) Trade for Depth F/D - Dermott needs to go. Get an actual NHL leftie for the third pair, so you can play it for more than 10 minutes a night.
2) Trade Skinner for a starter - Get an NHL goalie. Doesn't even have to be anyone special.
3) Trade RNH - He won't waive his NMC, but he's long been the human embodiment of everything wrong with the Oilers. Fire him into the sun.
4) Trade Jeff Skinner - Same as RNH.
5) Fire Schwartz - For obvious reasons.

Trade one of Pickard/Skinner and obtain a goalie like Blackwood unless they think they can hit the Gibson route, fire Schwartz so that idiot can't ruin another Oilers goalie, and trade for that elusive top four d man that Stauffer keeps yapping about.

Fire Jackson but that's not happening.

We have to chill because we have no assets or cap room to do anything. I would like to see Jeff Skinner jettisoned, it would create flexibility and raise the standards for effort.

Priority 1- need a goalie. Blackwood or Gibson.
Priority 1A- fire Schwartz
Priority 2- need a bottom pairing D-man. Keep Dermott off the ice.

We are actually underrated defensively, it's really Skinner that's the problem unfortunately. We can however shore up on D.

We lack cap space but it's doable. Time for Bowman to get creative.

J.Skinner is the only option.
No one else is going to waive their NMC and the ones without NMC have no value.

Trade Skinner. His moustache is nasty and ridden with diseases.
Trade RNH. His lack of compete and coattail riding doesn't help us win.
Trade Jeff Skinner. One dimensional player who was supposed to bring offense but doesn't.
Trade for a RHD that can anchor a pairing with Nurse since Bouchard is playing like a flaming bag of dog shit this season and doing his best to tank Ekholm's game.
Fire Schwartz and give him an award for being one of the most unqualified hirings in human history.
Fire Gulutzan who doesn't actually coach anything.
Fire Stan Bowman because he's a despicable human.
Fire JJ because people who can be called JJ are saddled with generational curses.

The only moves imo that can realistically be done are upgrading Pickard to a 1B situation, and using what little assets we have to secure a top 4D (Prolly at the deadline) which hopefully stabilizes the D, spreads out the minutes better and gives us some depth in case of injuries. I don't think any sort of impactful forward is realistic (To make cap room you'd both need to get someone to waive and use assets better used elsewhere.), nor is a significant upgrade at 1A goalie due to availability and cap.

For the offence, the answer will have to be in the room imo, for better or worse. At least there's the hope Kane can comeback and make an impact up front.

Any which way you slice it, some improvement has to come from within as a large roster turnover just isn't realistic.

I think most will agree on Schwartz though, lol.
