I would love to be a fly on the wall to see what HUGO has up their sleeve this year .
I'm a dirt patch on the floor, and I think I might sip too much popcorn oil...

But here is the plan to go full rebuild : Year 3

Then sign Kuznetsov to fill the C role, sign Gavrikov to replace Matheson, and sign back Armia.

Forget the 25-26 pressured market to try to go after big names, play the wait-and-see game.

Prime target to complete our team 26-27! With Mtrka, McQueen, Beck, Komarov, Hage, Stillman, Horcoff, Zonnon, Nestrasil, Prokhorov, Fowler, Volkhin, Andreyanov, and Ottavainen, we still have a good prospect pool coming up and a chance at a good 2026 draft pick. No need to rush.

Logically, they would go forward and Dmen
I like the idea of getting an RD and a center.

But ultimately I just want them to get good hockey players. Like a gem like a Caufield or a Guhle or hopefully a Hage, regardless of position or size. Just try to find gems. If one out of our two firsts turn out to be a gem, I will ecstatic. We need more assets to trade for needs. Everyone wants a great 2c. But no one wants to give up Caufield, Suzuki, Slaf, Demidov, Guhle, Reinbacher, Hutson, or Fowler. But that's what it takes to get that 2c we want.

Trade up with 16th overall using 41th (11th or 12th) and Trade down 17th to late 1st, collecting back a 2nd or early 3rd.

Target trade up: McQueen, Bear, Mrtka or Eklund

Target trade down: Cootes, Fiddler, Reschny, Kindel, Zonnon, Gastrin, Nesbitt

I think having any combo of that would be great.

Suzuki continues to improve every single season while Robertson has regressed.

I find most of these stats meaningless without a ton of expert eye test to parse through the nonsense. There is a reason Kyle Dubas has become such a running joke.

Arguing that "most of these stats [are] meaningless without a ton of expert eye test to parse through the nonsense" doesn't make much sense when your argument that Robertson has regressed is entirely about points and my pushback is also entirely about points. As is pointing out that the difference between Robertson's production in his 100 point season and this season is entirely PP based.

The truth is that the argument Suzuki continues to improve every single season while Robertson has regressed is entirely point based.

And every front office cares about both the eye test and data and have for years. Using Kyle Dubas as some sort of argument against stats when Carolina and Florida have been the most data driven organizations is strange.

No.1 thing is to get a 2C. But, would be nice to have 2 40% chances of landing a top 6F/4D. I guess 1 in 6 going 0/2 or 2/2?

Not a lot of Dmen I'd take before forwards in this draft. I hope they don't force it. A center and a hard hitting winger would be fine.

I don't think Montreal's in a position where they'd feel any pressure to take one position over another in the first round save for perhaps a center. They've got a lot of good young D in the NHL and in the system.

Yeah i am not buying the we will take a F and a D. They won't reach out of a tier to make that happen.

Watchout. I feel a typical EP "ignorant masses" reply coming.

If Pittsburgh gets the Rangers pick? I think they will be open to trading it down. Probably give them back 41. Ensures we get Bear.

Flyers said to be interested in Aitcheson. If he's there at 17? We could trade down and get 22 and 30.
