We're talking to Mark Yannetti again.

You've got about 12 hours from right now (8pm Sunday night) to put a question here and if it's relevant, polite and interesting I'll try and ask it.

Things I'm not gonna ask him about...

The LA Kings regular season roster
coaching
the playoffs
team toughness

This is a conversation about the upcoming draft, how he runs the amateur scouting staff and stuff like that.

ok... do your worst.

As always, feel free to use however many you'd like. I just always put multiple up in case you don't get enough questions you feel comfortable asking. Thank you as always for doing this.

- Studies and your own interview with Futa reference the metric of 200 games to determine if a pick is "successful" or not. When you are trying to make your list, is the likelihood to hit 200 games one of the deciding factors you use before picking a player? Or do you use it more as a framework for players once you pick them?

- With the CHL players now being eligible to play in the NCAA, is it a red flag for a player to leave their junior team to play college hockey (like Cole Reschny)? Do you have concerns about players using this opportunity to shop for a different team if they don't like what's happening in juniors?

- Are there ever concerns of the more athletic kids playing other sports, like with Mason West and foitball?

- with Holland coming in from the outside, he obviously has his own idea of what identity he wants with the team. What adjustments did you have to make to feel confident the picks you make will fit in going forward?

- with the draft being decentralized, did you find yourself putting more feelers out there for trade scenarios at the Combine more than usual?

- What are the top-3 attributes or observations that matter most to you in ranking potential picks?

What's different going into this draft process, scouting certain type of players, the potential selection process, etc. with Holland now compared to Blake previously?
(or worded better / more efficient for your needs & preferences).

This is my primary interest, especially since it's not Yanetti's first rodeo with a transition....DL to Blake, now Blake to Holland, are there lessons learned on how to do so

Has the change in GM changed how certain player attributes (skill, skating etc) are weighted in your evaluation of a player?

PS: How are you doing @All The Kings Men ?

I feel overall size is hindering some of the more skilled young players in the Kings lineup and limiting their ice time (Spence, Turcotte).

How does the scouting team project what a player's peak size is going to be?

Do they change their expectations of what they are looking for in a player drafting in the first round by the position of the pick.

For example.

Top 5 pick you are looking for a franchise type or high end player. But when it gets down to pick 15 or pick 20, would they target a player with a specific skill? There may be players like Kaliyev who are high-end scores that come with red flags. Would they gamble and target somebody like that hoping for a higher end upside or would they pick a prospect that is believed to develop into a higher end third line center or maybe a higher end middle pairing shut down defenseman because of the later pick in the first round. Basically sacrifice the hopes of high end talent that may be a long shot, for more of a sure thing that plays down in your lineup.

And a second question would be is there any chance the kings are even looking at a goalie this year with the abundant amount of goalies in the pipeline?

Please ask him if they are drafting with long term or short term goal in mind.

Purpose of the question is if they acknowledge that a rebuild is needed or do they intend to barely float
above the rebuilding teams to reach the playoff.

Short question would be if they are looking for guys who can step in immediately or do they want to invest into a longer development

How have you found things different with Holland being around when it comes to philosophy and draft approach?
I know it's only been like 6 weeks lol.
How much input are he or Tyer Wright putting in on the type of player Holland is looking for, which could come back to philosophy question.
Thanks

This is probably too late, but in the past he's mentioned how hard it is now to trade up in the 1st round the last few years. I'd ask if he still sees that as the case this year, or if teams are more reasonable about moving around.
