Two years at that age is pretty important when the player is in their primeMcDavid is only two years older than Doncic so he's probably a decent comparable, at least in terms of age. Luca isn't the undisputed best player in the world though, unlike 97.
Scheifele never really quite hit the same highs that AD had in his career and of course this is acknowledging Scheifele being a very very good player for his career and this season as well, but that’s why I think Panarin is a better comparable.Makar for Scheifele + 1st (2027)
Huh?Otherwise it makes little sense from a Dallas perspective. Perhaps a little like when Boston traded Joe Thornton for a bag of peanuts although Joe was underwhelming when he was moved.
He had one season where he was above PPG in like 6 seasons in Boston, was a major underachiever in the playoffs including the last time he was in the playoffs where he put up zero points in 7 games (injured or not) and then missed the playoffs entirely the following year. In fact if he didn’t even have that hot start in 05-06 I’m not sure he even fetched the meh return he did.Huh?
He had a mediocre season in 03-04 but had 101 points in 02-03 and 33 in 23 games when he was traded.
They just want to imagine Toronto getting fleeced, that's all.To everyone naming Leaf players.. ya'll do realize Doncic carried his team to the finals right?
Still a puzzling trade. Dallas would need to win a title with AD to even come close to having this deal make any sense. Doncic is uber talented, but I do see that conditioning is an issue with him. But, figured they would continue to work with him on that. Now with the Mavs I think they're going for win now, with Kyrie + Klay + AD, so they're upgrading at C with the surplus they had at guard, it just doesn't make sense to target AD though. Trading Doncic for Giannis would be fair value, doubt Bucks would do it. AD just isn't that guy, great player but injury concerns + he's 31 whereas Doncic is 25.
He probably wasn't what they wanted out of a number 1 overall but he was a year removed from a 101 point season at 24.He had one season where he was above PPG in like 6 seasons in Boston, was a major underachiever in the playoffs including the last time he was in the playoffs where he put up zero points in 7 games (injured or not) and then missed the playoffs entirely the following year. He was underwhelming.
At that time that season was looking like an outlier. Frankly, I don’t think there was any chance he replicates the success he had in San Jose in Boston after that 3-1 blown series against Montreal. He probably wasn't what they wanted out of a number 1 overall but he was a year removed from a 101 point season at 24.
Maybe. He had 33 points in 22 games that year. I remember being crestfallen as I still thought he was going to be a stud.At that time that season was looking like an outlier. It’s weird. I remember him being super critical of the team and where they were headed and I know the team and the fans were disappointed in his play, yet he was still apparently blindsided by the deal. It should have been obvious to anyone paying attention there was an inevitable split.Maybe. He had 33 points in 22 games that year. I think it was the Lindros fight that did him in. He seemed to lose his killer instinct after he got his face broken.
