What would the NHL equivalent of the Luka Dončić trade be?

Slovenian basketball players are like Japanese baseball players. They all want to make like Jed Clampett and move to Beverly. Hills, that is. Swimming pools. Movie stars.

NBA teams more or less assumed Doncic wanted to go to the Lakers. So why bother bidding for him? For 60 years greats like Chamberlain, Abdul-Jabbar, Bryant, O’Neal and James have forced trades to Los Angeles or signed there.

Plus with, believe it or not, with the Knicks actually a pretty decent team after decades of Dolan incompetence, Adam Silver is salivating over recreating the Knicks vs Lakers title matchups of the early 1970s..and after seeing how well the Dodgers vs Yankees World Series did

Doncic is missing out of a lot of money by going to LA. But the question is can he bother to get properly conditioned or will he eat his way to disappointment?

Seeing a lot of Matthews in here but Doncic has seen past the 2nd round. It'd be more like Draisaitl getting traded since he made the finals as part of an elite offensive duo the previous year and is arguably a top 3-4 player in the world (like Doncic is). It's crazy that it happened.

I wonder how it will work with 2 ball dominant players with similar games with Bron and Luka but that's definitely not an on topic convo here.

It was made with the future in mind, Bron may still be playing well at his age but he won't be around forever.

A complete fleecing on one side.
Just the latest wannabe team trying to get likes. Boston has ruled this territory for years.

Thornton to SJ for Marco Sturm, Wayne Primeau, and Brad Stuart.

Seguin/Peverley/Button to DAL for Loui Eriksson, Joe Morrow, Reilly Smith, and Matt Fraser.

We do this shit in our sleep.

No one knows for sure, but possibly worried about his conditioning and they aren't sure they wanted to commit a 350 million dollar supermax contract to him.

Otherwise it makes little sense from a Dallas perspective. Perhaps a little like when Boston traded Joe Thornton for a bag of peanuts although Joe was underwhelming when he was moved.

I think that relationship really got strained during the 04 playoffs. He finished with zero points in 7 games, and he was playing through a rib problem. He was getting alot of heat and the organization didn't defend him in the media either (rightly or wrongly).
