Surprising how people were sure he'd it over 150 early in this season when he was pacing for a monster career high and now none of the 15 voters thinks he will hit over 140 in his career.

Why couldn't he maintain that Gretzky pace? Is it a constancy problem, he burned himself out or the league just ajusted to him?

150 isn’t happening unless there’s a full 82 against the North Division.

The two best seasons in the last thirty years are both Mario, 161 and 160 points, 69 goals each, nice.

McDavid is generational but he’s not on Mario’s level.

I voted 131-135, which is still beastly in this era of giant goalies, highly mobile D, improved systems and up to the second video being available.

I'm gonna low ball him with 126-130 for now.
If Edmonton plays up to their offensive potential for 75 games during a single regular season, he's flirting with 150 easily.
But what are the odds of Edmonton playing at such a high level of consistency?

Around 120 is pretty much the maximum. Breaking 130 points in single season means that he'd have to have around 1,5 ppg average.

Currently Oilers score over 3 goals on average per game so imagine how hard that number is to reach.

I think this is probably going to be his highwater mark offensively. I expect the oil to bring in a more structured coach to make the team better next year. McDrai's numbers may take a dip, but I expect them to become better overall players.

Based on this year so far, he is not living up to expectations from last season when he was outscoring everyone by the largest margin since Wayne/Mario. He is closer to his level in 18/19 and 19/20 which was a 125 point/season pace.

Voted 131-135. Everyone was saying he'd score 150+ this year and he's barely even pacing for 130 anymore. Lots of ups and downs in a long season - and mostly, if he wants to win in playoffs he'll have to pace himself a bit, so I think eventual playoff success will cause his regular season totals to regress slightly in future too.

So - just a guess at 131-135, but I could actually see it being less too.

Lemieux played 152 games between 1992-93-1995-96 ( 50 games per yr) and scored 155 gls & 358 pts. All this while undergoing cancer treatment and missing 1.5 yrs to recover from Anemia.

Somewhat impossible to be predict as a lot will depend on the league....scoring is trending up right now.....last year was the highest scoring period in a long, long time....will it go higher or revert back a bit?

I think McDavid has a 135-140 range season in him.
Yeah I voted 130-135 range. I really think he could get higher but like I just don't see it. The amount of chances he generates every night is insane but he seems to have the most bad luck I've seen, just from the game last night it felt like he should have at least 3 points, but barely got one. No way he ever hits 150 IMO, the pucks just dont go in enough for that, which is a shame because I think hes good enough to get there.

Kucherov is a good player no doubt but he just had two unbelievable heaters, 18 and 17 points in 5 games each. So 35 points in 10 games, lmao. McDavid would need something like that or 40 in 10 to get anywhere close to 150, hard to bank on being that lucky.

The stars would have to align I think to get to 150. I think 135-140 in a really good season where his wingers are not blowing chances non-stop. I think maybe this season it could happen, as long as he has a few good hot streaks. 130-135 is probably more realistic.

Yea, I think sometimes it’s just a matter of getting a bit lucky on some streaks. As good as Kucherov is, I think his big 129 point season is probably a bit inflated for how good he actually was or is, and is more of a 110-120 point talent. McDavid I think can hit 130 just by being himself and a “lucky” season could push him over 140, but it’s one of those things where everything needs to line up to maximize their season and that doesn’t always happen to every player, and he might have missed out on that by the shortened Covid season. And among his closest recent comparables, it didn’t happen for Crosby or Malkin, and probably not even Ovechkin either given his paces in 09-10.
