This was such a crazy season filled with many emotions culminating with the greatest feeling fans can ever wish for. Our Pittsburgh Penguins are the Stanley Cup Champions and I was just wondering what were some of your best memories from this historic year? Whether it be a goal like Malkin's against Edmonton or Crosby's against Anaheim or something like Kessel's funny "bad breath" interview or anything else that really stood out for you looking back at this Championship team be it in the regular season or the postseason.

Bonino's OT goal in Game 6 vs the Caps. First time I thought "Man, we could really do this" and I just love beating the Caps.

That game had potential to be so horrific too, blowing the 3-0 lead on the delay of game penalties. In previous years we would have lost on the first shot of OT but we came out and dominated for 6 minutes until he scored.

Excluding anything from Hornqvist's empty netter in game six on, I'd say getting the alert about the Kessel trade. I was out to lunch with my mom (also a big Pens fan) and we were so excited.

Not really a singular instance, but late in the season, when we were crushing teams, 6-2 and whatnot, including the Caps and the red hot Flyers....I thought...we really could go far in the playoffs this year.

I literally forgot Nick Spaling was a thing before I saw this, even though the Pens just played his team in a 6-game series.

Edit: He played all 24 Sharks playoffs games and had 1 assist.

You can't win with 12 Phil Kessels.

Another favorite part of the season was watching games with my wife and every time she saw Phil play she said, "Why did Toronto want him gone? Are they idiots?"

It started with me attending the 6-2 drubbing of the Caps after we destroyed Philly on their ice the night before. I remember thinking, we were probably in for a stinker after expending so much energy in that dump of a city, but damn if we didn't just beat the absolute piss out of Washington. I left Consol that night thinking "this team has a real shot".

And then so many things after that, all the way up until the Hornqvist EN and subsequent celebrations!

If its down to a goal, it might be the Crosby breakaway against the Ducks.
-The fact that he just blew by Cam Fowler while only a few weeks before we were hearing that he was in decline
-The fact that his play was white hot at that time and was catapulting 87 back into the scoring race (seriously, seemed like every game he passed 2-3 guys)
-the fact that we were beating the pants off an equally (W/L-wise) Ducks team in our own barn told the world we were for real
-The fact that the team was pouring it on with pure offense and the home fans were going nuts was validation that the Sullivan move had paid dividends and was remaking the team

All of the things about that moment made me think this team really had turned a corner a big way. Of course, there was so much more to come, but that moment had me fist pumping like mad.

Excellent example, and one I hadnt even thought about (says so much about our season). Looking ahead on the calendar to that weekend I was DREADING having to face those teams with a trip to the playoffs on the line. Then the team got hot, and eventhough we were basically in, I was still nervous when that weekend rolled around.

But man when Daley did this, and the Pens were trashing the "best team in the league", it was kind of a real sky-is-the-limit kind of moment.

It's way too hard... but i'll just throw a couple out that do not include hoisting Lord Stanley (because that's the obvious one).

+ The leaders of the team taking over Game 6/7 against TB.
+ Rust's goal in Game 7.
+ Murray's glove save on Oshie
+ Bonino's OT winner
+ Sheary sniping Hank
+ Sid's opening faceoff whack to JT.
+ Sid getting thrown into the bench and the JT incident and just not even looking at them. Such a bad ass.
+ HBK forming.
+ Geno's EDM goal.

God there are so many. Honestly.

Not specifically a single moment but for me it was watching Sid/Geno take over games 6/7 against Tampa. It was really the only time during the entire playoff run that the team had their backs against the wall and needed some heroics. Having the two guys who've carried the franchise for the last decade be the ones to step up there was pretty special.

The absolute rage coming from other fanbases about our championship. They all produced enough salt to clear the streets of Pittsburgh this winter. :sarcasm:

In all seriousness, it would have to be seeing the young guys (Sheary, Kuhn, Rust, Wilson, Sundqvist, Dumo and Murray) come up and slowly develop into the role players that this team needed to become a championship squad. It started simply enough, mainly offensive cycling and low-risk plays. Then the points started coming. Then the majority of them became two-way players.

And there was also Matt Murray. It's so weird to see two quality goalies on the Pens at once (Yes, I consider Fleury to be a quality goaltender. He was the main reason the Pens weren't putrid in the early part of the season).

It's just so amazing to see actual player development on the Pens squad now. And to think a lot of people on this board were praising "homegrown" players like Vitale and Farnham for not being putrid on the fourth line. What a shift in culture.

Its hard to say what's my favorite. So many good moments. But one of the top 3 is defintely Bonino's OT winner in game 6 against the Caps. So many emotions in that game. I celebrated so much after that goal.

Chess Grandmaster Sid engineering that Sheary OT goal. Also everyone being "wow, Letang not being dumb" on here afterwards.

Murray's insane 40+ saves game against the Caps.

All in all my fave bit of the season was all the excitement of the babies and the leadership of the oldies. Letang and Lovejoy are such grown ups now.

It was such a surreal moment. I wasn't even mad, just incredibly bemused. Every season there will be incredible goals or huge hits or blockbuster trades, but I think we may never see another moment like that again.

Bonino's ot goal. I was there and it was glorious. Just an unreal moment and game.

Definitely kunitz going to the penalty box....when he didnt get called for a penalty.

This was probably my favorite Penguins season ever.

So many great moments, and the incredible turnaround just makes the whole thing that much better. We went from having an almost unlikable team the prior season to a youthful, energetic, offensive juggernaut by the end of the season. The Cup window that seemed to be closing was forced back open with the Kessel trade and the team finally realized it's potential in the second half of the season with an incredible surge.
