TV: What TV series are you currently watching/recently watched?

Watching season 2 of Squid Game. Through three episodes, it's holding my attention. However it's becoming a little convoluted and implausible. I'm prepared to be let down.

Overall, I liked it. I think the story makes more sense when one reads it as an allegory. Otherwise one can get pretty frustrated with the inconsistent character motivation and some implausible situations.

I’m really loving the leftovers. It became apparent to me that I did at one point see the whole first season when it came out years ago. Wasn’t sure where I had stopped.

I had not seen any of the second season before this week and I’m finding it every bit as good, maybe even better 4 episodes in.

If anyone would like to recommend any similar shows I’d be on board.

I have not seen any of the second season yet and I’m finding it every bit as good, maybe even better 4 episodes in.

I loved it too, Season 2 and 3 really raise the show to another level.

It's pretty unique, I find it hard to find shows that have a lot of similarities. The miniseries Station Eleven was quite good, and felt similar in some ways, that I'd certainly recommend it. Rectify is another show that I've heard shares some similarities, though I haven't gotten around to watching yet.

I am definitely going to check station eleven out thanks.

I am going to stop littering this thread with leftovers shit but before I do I just want to say, my first name is Matt and those episodes about him are just insane and a little too relatable, at least with our shit luck and perseverance. I don’t want you to tell me but god damn do I hope there is another epic Matt episode before it’s all over. I thought both the first season episode and second were as good as television gets.

The Leftovers is my favourite show. I've watched Station Eleven cause everyone said it gave them leftover vibes but I personally wasnt that big of a fan of it. I've yet to find a show that tackles the problems and themes as well as The Leftovers did.

I'm not a Lost guy, but Lindelof's other work after The Leftovers I enjoyed quite a bit and those are Watchmen (tv series) and Mrs. Davis. You could give those a try at some point.

The Leftovers -- this is nutso .. I am also watching it, S2E4

this show was 10 years ago and like 4 of us are organically watching it now?

I like it, do wish I read the book ....

and I REALLY f***ING HOPE THEY EXPLAIN WHY AND WHAT HAPPENED on departure day. If I read the book and it ended like that (how S1 ended) ... Id be pissed.

That’s so weird.

Next episode for you was my favorite so far.

Finished a few short series recently:

Say Nothing - I read the book a few years ago, which I thought was pretty good as far as capturing an overall history of the Troubles in Northern Ireland from the late 60s to late 90s. I found the miniseries to be fairly good as well, but only covered a narrow scope of the book, and shared a few faults I found with the book as well. If you liked this, I'd recommend the book as well as watching the documentary series Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland as well.

The Penguin - Milioti and Farrell were excellent. Writing got a little sloppy at the end though, I felt. I enjoyed it but didn't truly love it.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew - Probably the weakest of the Star Wars TV shows I've seen, mostly due to it feeling like it was the most removed from the Star Wars universe than any of the other shows.

Our Planet - I've probably watched a dozen other David Attenborough-narrated nature documentaries and none of them have disappointed. This was no different, just solid. Enjoyed the 2nd season (2023), with the narrative/storyline focus on different species migration paths, the most.
