Speculation: What teams do you go "out of your way" to watch?

Most often.

In hopes of them losing, getting the crap beat out of them or simply because you hate that team.

And if you watch them because you have a "positive" reason (a favorite 2nd team?) then please, expound.

I'll watch Boston because I cannot stand that team (going on for 50 years) and used to enjoy the homerism in their announcing duo. (Poor guy, hope he beats that)

Carolina, because I just enjoy when they lose soooo much. Doesn't happen often enough. Maybe I am envious a bit, love their flair, hustle and all around game. Wish we'd be more aggressive and relentless like they are instead of thinking that we are........."all that & a bag of chips".

The Flyers, another hated team but I still love Torts. He will eventually get that team to the PO's.

Will occasionally "peek in" on a Devils or Islanders game (for gloating purposes)

First game I ever saw was Canadians and Rangers back in the 60s. Was impressed by the beauty of the game when played correctly (without all the chippy/cheap stuff). Have been a fan of both teams ever since.

I used to watch Caps just to see Alley-O.

In hockey I pretty much just watch the Rangers at this point. I watch our NCAA prospects a lot and Hartford when I can. Otherwise I just stick with the Blueshirts.

I don't really care for the NFL. I may check in on the Jets but they're such a joke it's not worth it. I'll turn on the games on Sunday afternoon just because it's a decades-old habit. I guess that means the Commander or Ravens.

College football is fun. I watch all the games there I follow Navy primarily but enjoy any good game.

Basketball, whether the pros or college, I don't really watch. It was fun watching the Knicks last season at the end and in the playoffs, but if they go back to being bad you won't see me watching the NBA.

Football I watch a ton of the EPL though I have no team. I'm an AC Milan supporter and watch a lot of Serie A, too. I'll watch any football that's on, men's or women's. The beautiful game, indeed.

I don't know about going out of my way since only the Rangers really fit that description in the NHL but I do find myself watching the Oilers and Avs a little more than some other teams. MacKinnon, Makar, and McDrai are fun to watch.

Hot take, Philip Chytil is a poor man's Nate MacKinnon.

I like watching the Habs. I follow Tony Marinaro on YT. Habs rehab after every game. They stink. Will Gorton turn that team into a playoff team? They have taken a step back this season. None of their players are playing well. MSL is an inexperienced HC. They can't defend. Their goalies can't stop a beachball. The Habs hired Pascal Vincent to coach their AHL team an he speafs french. How much longer with HuGo go without making some changes? Dach stinks. The Habs traded a 1st round pick and gave him a decent contract. The guy can't play. Their two top forwards are small. Hutson is a great skater but he is small. Turnover machine. I like Jake Evans. Good player. He isn't a 2nd line center.

I saw this YT video.

I'll look in on the Devils or the Isles the most because I want to see them lose. Whenever they get a lead in a game though I'll stop watching. I also never watch entire games of any NHL team. I also take a look at the Bruins sometimes---I have friends who are Bruins fans and Johnny Beecher is from my hometown.

I share the exact same thoughts on the Habs. I can't believe they hired MSL in the first place . He is in over his head . Evans is a heck of a player and will round out some Cup contender likely at the deadline if they move him . The guy is a competitor .

+1 for acquiring Evans to round out the forwards corp at the deadline. I see defense as a much bigger need, however. Igor is either fantastic or can't stop a beach ball like in the games against Utah and Buffalo. Quick turned back the clock to 2014. Both guys are getting shelled on a nightly basis.

I won a decent parlay on the Detroit game this past weekend when I went to AC and placed a bet. Panarin anytime scorer, Quick stopping 30+, and a Rangers win. The defense is still hemorrhaging shots and quality chances against.

The left side of the defense needs a total overhaul. Zac Jones truthfully is the only guy I'd keep past this season. Next summer is time to make a hockey trade with a young wing prospect for a LHD that's ready for full time duty in 2025.

Lindgren goes West for a couple of day 2 picks and Miller goes for another team's headache or a player with a higher and safer floor. It's possible Miller figures it out elsewhere, but this is one of those "better to trade a player a year too early than a year too late" kind of scenarios.

Been watching a good chunk of Loko Yaroslavl's junior team again this year... they may not have a Yegor Surin or a Daniil But this year but they're still a fun team to watch. They have a number of different prospects from overagers to 1st year guys and a few future draft prospects too

I've got access to every NHL game through Sportsnet and TSN, and anytime I decide to throw on a game, I literally pick one at random using an RNG.

Excluding the Leafs of course. The mental anguish of watching them win far outweighs the satisfaction of watching them lose.

if im dying for hockey and the Rongos arent playing, i'll half-watch whatever local team is playing on MSG or MSG2, either Devils or Islanders.

If i'm feeling really desperate ill put on ESPN+ and watch some rando western teams that i never get to see. Like Blues vs Kraken or something. Not often though.

I wouldn't say I got out of my way to watch any specific team but I do try to watch a bunch of games for each team throughout the season.

TBH on some nights I'm more interested in watching teams other than the Rangers because the regular season has lost a lot of juice for me. I'm in cup or bust mode now and can't get too up or down about the regular season.

Hey guys, thanks for your input. Especially to those who gave legit responses.
I quoted YOU because unfortunately I am finding myself a little more critical than I have ever been about my beloved Rangers and yet I don't (or haven't) too often been really jacked up too much this season. Hoping it's because we really have only played a few games that I DESPARATELY wanted to win Like the Panthers and Winnipeg games for example). Comp hasn't been great, but that'll change I suppose. OR do I really believe that we are better than just about everybody?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention I flipped on Canes/Flyers game, but EVERY TIME I DO, they effin' win.

I don’t particularly watch other teams all the time just to watch them. For me it’s all about if it’s a good matchup. Like if Dallas is playing Vegas or something like that I’ll watch because they’re both good teams. You couldn’t pay me to watch 2 shit teams play.

Ottawa...how can you not enjoy watching Brady Tkachuk play hockey ? He is a a weapon of mass destruction and eventually will be a part of a Stanley Cup winning club somewhere in the future .
*reluctantly nods in agreement*
