What Should the Blues do with ROR's next contract?

All signs point to ROR getting traded, so I think us resigning him totally depends on how he does with the team he's traded to. If he excels there, he'll price himself out of our future. If he doesn't move the needle wherever he goes, I can see us giving him a fair 3-4 year, 4-5 mill a year contract but that's only if he's OK with being essentially relegated to a 3c role.

I wouldn't be opposed to resigning him in the offseason for the right term/dollars - but only after we trade him for a first and a top prospect (fingers crossed).

I'd be happy with a 1st and a B+-level defense prospect who needs the proverbial "change of scenery".

I think DA is trying to package ROR with one of our players with term.

There that’s better

The Blues have 10 games between now and the trade deadline. Not sure if ROR is expected to return tomorrow but I’ll assume not.

What the Blues could really use is ROR returning and having 5 or so really good games. I doubt teams are truly wanting to trade for him before he can show he’s at least fully recovered from the broken foot.

As for re-signing him, I’d only be interested in the off-season. He’s had a horrible season but he was dominant and completely outplayed MacKinnon less than a year ago. Did the wheels truly completely fall off right after that or is this just a really bad year for him and he’ll bounce back? My guess is it’s a little or both but more the later. He also wasn’t helped by being stapled to Kyrou to begin the season. That’s not a knock on Kyrou - I just think it was obvious that those 2 play such different games that it was a horrible combo and did neither any favors.

I love the guy and he’ll always be the Selke caliber guy that was instrumental in bringing us our only Cup (a true Conn Smythe performance IMO) but at this point, I’d prefer to have the 1st round pick (if he can show he’s worth that these handful of games before the trade deadline) and then would be interested in exploring his return this summer.
