What Should be done with the Power Play?

Powerplay ain't working cause there isn't enough space in the offensive zone for our high-end skill players to be effective. Solution, the leafs should take a penalty right away to set up a 4 on 4. This should create more space for the skill players to do their magic!

Wasn't a big part of Muzzin coming in was his "heavy slapshot" from the point? What happened to that?

Muzzin got about 30 seconds of PP time last game and almost immediately gave up a shorthanded chance. He's too slow for this PP.

More movement off the puck seems to be the consensus. Usually it's just the puck carrier and the nearest skater looking to pass to each other and that's it. The netfront presence needs to move around too; there's no point screening the goalie if nobody's in good shooting position.

It didn't speak too well for Tavares when Matthews with a sore wrist was a noticeable improvement as a net front presence. I almost immediately noted how much better he was at it.

Not hating this idea

Galchenyuk 2nd PP unit right half-wall. Can one-time goals from the bottom of the circle almost at will; it's kinda his thing. It's a matter of when not if I imagine. Nice move by the coaching to make him earn it with strong 5 on 5 play 1st. Luxury of winning

More movement is needed. They should practice cycling around the outside, eventually teams will get out of position allowing cross seam passes for a one timer. They used to do it more often. They also had option like a slot tip, side of the net options, and the one timer. They should add point shots more often but it’s mandatory they get through.

I kind of like Poulin's idea of not practising the powerplay at all. Just wing it, they're talented enough to figure it out. Take Rielly off PP1 though, his muffin shot is a huge problem.

It could very well be that it became too predictable for other teams.

The easiest fix right now would be Gally for Simmonds on PP1.

Simmonds takes Thornton’s spot on PP2.
Give it 8 PP opportunities and see what happens.

Where do you play Chucky? He's best and most comfortable in Marner's spot on the PP
