Roster Moves: What players will be here to compete?

One thing for sure is that the Flyers know more about Desnoyers than any other club in the League because of having his brother in the system. There won't be any "we didn't know that he had migraine issues." or that "his personality lacked the compete component." My concern is the talent level of the Q.

I'd like to see the Cates/Brink/Foerster line kept together as a 3rd line and then the team focusing on adding Top 6 talent and top pair dman.

I do not think Couturier is still here in 3-4 years.
I do think Konecny and Tippett will be here (due to contact for the latter).
I see York traded this summer rather than re-signing.

Forward
  1. Konecny - _____________ - Michkov
  2. ___________ - ___________ - Tippett
  3. Foerster - Cates - Brink
  4. __________ - _____________ - __________

Defensemen
  1. Sanheim - ____________
  2. _________ -
  3. _________ - ____________

Goalies

That's all I think will be here and it wouldn't surprise me if Tippett is gone by that point too.

Drysdale is the maybe camp for me. No one else on the D today will be here in 3-4 years.

Those holes will be filled with some combinations of Luchanko, Barkey, Bump, Bonk, Zavragin, yet to be drafted players, free agents, and trade.

We got A LOT of work to do.
i agree with much of that.

in 3-4 years i see...

Konecny-Hagens/Frondell-Michkov
Barkey-Luchenko-Tippett
Foerster-Cates-Brink
Bump-Poehling-Grebenkin/Ciernik

XXX-XXX
Sanheim-Drysdale
XXX-Bonk

Bjarnason
Zavragin

i think York gets packaged with one of our later 1sts for a bigger name player this summer.

they should look to move Tippett and Drysdale as well because i don't think either will be any better than they are now.

i expect at some point they make a major splash in UFA. probably targeting a top pairing D as our D is a freaking mess.

"as our D is a freaking mess."
For much of the last 50 years, nothing has changed

Using York and another asset for an upgrade on defense is something I can see happening.

Can hopefully recoup the asset attached to York by trading Risto.

Do we even know what the injury was that saw Risto miss the end of the season?

Something with a tricep - he got surgery on it a couple weeks ago. Briere said it's the same injury from last year which held him out for majority of the year. At this point, Briere expects Risto to miss the start of the season. Weird... the same injury reoccurring... something something Flyers medical staff?

We can probably table any offseason Risto trade talks at this point. Likely to not happen until the deadline next year, at the earliest, if he's even healthy enough to play.

Should've - Would've - Could've - traded Risto at this last deadline. A damn shame to be stuck with a #5 defensemen who is injury prone and costs 5.1m for 2 more seasons.

Someone here called the inevitable Bennett signing months ago. That is 100% happening, and will be a 30% overpay in both years and $. Turns out the fake rebuild was not about building their prospect pool, but rather just waiting for cap space.

We will have a front row seat for the decline of TK, Bennett (he of the recent mystery upper body injury), and Coots- Michkov’s career will be wasted with rotating plugs like Tipsy and Luchie.

That’s the optimistic view anyway…

It’s why they likely should keep all their picks. They need to make a lot of picks and hit on a lot of them. But honestly, they may need to be the outlier to the outlier to have things work out. Like better than Dallas. Tanking next year is a must for me and so is selling TK. If you can get a 1st this year and next year from Buffalo you need to do it.

Risto will get Rathje'd.

I like to look at it like this: watching FLA vs TB.
How many current Flyers could make the Panthers? Konecny. Sanheim. Couts as 4C. Michkov. That’s it. They are also the long contracts/keepers so they will be around.

The Flyers have a long way to go to be competitive with actual good teams.

Wtf is this
When your 20 y.o. wing scored 60+ points in low scoring team without elite prime-years C and PP your window is here. Seize the moment until his ELC.

There's basically no way for them to be competitive the next two years. They need a 1C, a 1D and a 1G.

The best thing they could do is not sign/extend players who will be overpaid or past their best in 27-28.

#buckle in..

DB has already said he plans to use cap money to sign a FA this summer, to speed up their plans to get back to POs...

100% its gunna be a Vet. that doesnt move the needle but does cost over 6M$/yr and lasts 5+ years...
