Idk how to title this. But I basically have a question that could lead to some good discussion.

What players that are on the NHL team now are going to be on this team when they are competing in the Michkov window? Which I believe is at least 3 to 4 years away.

The Flyers finally moved on from Laughton. They need to continue shedding players like that. So who WILL be here when our window, hopefully, opens.

Couturier, Sanheim, Tippett, and Konecny due to contracts. They're not moving on now and I'm willing to make no bets any of the 4 has positive trade value in 3 years. That means they stay.

Foerster, Cates, and Poehling by design. These are their guys, although if I was a team I would be calling about Foerster all summer and cursing this late season hot streak. The Cates UFA contract may push him into the first group for me, but this better reflects what I see as their feelings.

Brink will be on the path of least resistance and just happen to still be around. You could argue Andrae belongs here too. They won't believe in either.

Who should be here?
Foerster, Brink, Cates, and possibly Sanheim if he ages well

Who will be here?
Sanheim, Couts, TK, Cates, Tippett, Drysdale & Foerster

I think Couturier will find himself in conversations about being traded or bought out. It will just be too easy to put blame on a declining captain. I’m not sure they don’t spend assets to move on there.

Sanheim will be here, Konecny, and Tippet. I think they are eager to extend Cates.

Don’t think Cam York is long for this team.

I'm pretty confident that the team will look largely the same next year. My guess is of the forward UFA/RFA guys, Lycksell will be back as a 4th line/spare, and Cates, Pelletier, and Foerster will be in the lineup. Luchanko I imagine will be here next year full time (for better or worse). Depending on where we wind up picking we could see our top pick here and maybe a guy like Barkey or Grebenken are given a look.

For defense and in net I'd imagine we're just going to run it back. Maybe we will be lucky and someone will take Risto and/or Nic the Dic and/or Hathaway and/or Seeler but I don't see it happening. I hope they offer sheet MacTavish. That's my goal for the offseason.

I'd like to see the Cates/Brink/Foerster line kept together as a 3rd line and then the team focusing on adding Top 6 talent and top pair dman.

I do not think Couturier is still here in 3-4 years.
I do think Konecny and Tippett will be here (due to contact for the latter).
I see York traded this summer rather than re-signing.

Forward
  1. Konecny - _____________ - Michkov
  2. ___________ - ___________ - Tippett
  3. Foerster - Cates - Brink
  4. __________ - _____________ - __________

Defensemen
  1. Sanheim - ____________
  2. _________ -
  3. _________ - ____________

Goalies

That's all I think will be here and it wouldn't surprise me if Tippett is gone by that point too.

Drysdale is the maybe camp for me. No one else on the D today will be here in 3-4 years.

Those holes will be filled with some combinations of Luchanko, Barkey, Bump, Bonk, Zavragin, yet to be drafted players, free agents, and trade.

We got A LOT of work to do.

I think I agree with most of this. Although I don't think they move on from Drysdale or Poeling by then.

The biggest problem with this, is where TF are they going to get guys to fill all those holes? It's so so much, and so far away.

They won't be competing in 4 years. That being said.

I think Michkov is still here. So is Tippett. TK...I don't know. That guy might snap and go somewhere to win someday, but I think after he leaves he has a Season of Struggle as he tries to learn how to play modern hockey.

They've tried so hard to minimize Sanheim for so long that I bet he gets moved. All it'll take is strong seasons from any prospect.

They're successfully turning Foerster into a grindy boi so he will be here. Poehling will be 30. That's prime Veteran 4C Age. You can't just find that anywhere! /s

They're going to want to ditch Zamula and Andrae at the first opportunities.

Couturier retires. Drysdale and Luchanko being here will be entirely contingent upon how much of current management is also still here.

I planned out the future this is who we will keep everyone else is traded. I think we will send those grindy boys to the defensive end because we don't know how to draft those.

I don't forsee this team ever being competitive on purpose.

Poehling is UFA after next season. Hard to say on that one.

Drysdale will be here by virtue of the crippling contract they sign him to in order to "save face" for that shameful trade.

I think youre mixing up Drysdale and Tippett. Drysdale has 1 year left at $2.3 and is then an RFA.
