What NHL player name did you always say wrong and were corrected by someone???

Slater Koekkoek

My friend told me it was KooKoo but i didn’t believe him because how the hell does Koekkoek turn into KooKoo but I guess I was wrong

Roy isn't actually pronounced "Waa" that's just because the rolling "r" sound needed to properly pronounce it is pretty hard for people who don't speak a language that requires it like English. My last name is actually "Roy" and half my family are franch and the other half english. French side pronounces it with the rolling r, the english side just says roy, as in leroy lol.

It's hard to write it out the way it would sound because it uses two sounds that you don't really hear in the english language.

Austin Matthews always gets me. I know it seems so simple. But I always need to spell it out when I say it lol. Like this: W-A-Y-N-E G-R-E-T-Z-K-Y

Jokes aside my biggest one was Patrick ROY when I was a kid.

I called a Weber (Webber) grill Weeber the other day because of Shea Weber and was corrected by someone. I guess I probably called Shea Weber Shea Webber at first though.

Haha. When I was a kid, I’d say Roy (English phonetically). Then my dad told me that it’s Rooah because he’s French Canadian. Took me years of therapy to accept that it’s closer to Wah.

The other day I was driving and listening to the Canes v Leafs game and heard Joe Bowen pronounce Jacob Slavin, like 'Ya-kob Slah-veen' and I was like WTF?

Martin St. Louis like the city.

Patrick Roy, thought it was Roy as in Roy Rogers.

Not a player, but when I was younger I thought the Jose in San Jose was pronouced like Joe-Say.

We're still having trouble with Chytil.

Actually, if you go by the technical Czech pronunciation, I think Chytil is having trouble with Chytil.

Found this video. Makes for a good laugh.

I, along with most NHL fans, probably cannot pronounce a large percentage of European skaters' names. I apologize on everyone's behalf. I thought a lot of the pronunciations were correct in the video, must be amusing for Finns though.
