I love (almost) all of them. I love the sax intro - such a classic. But I also started watching in 97, so that kitschy intro from the late 90s is quite near and dear to me. All of the ones since the lockout have been decent, but I think our current one is the best of the lot.
That being said - not exactly related, but on the topic of Rangers intros - NOTHING will ever get me more pumped up for a game than this music. Bring it back for Rangers Game Night, PLEASE.
Username checks out.NYI fan here, who grew up in the NYC Metro-area basically between our Dynasty, and your historic ‘94 Cup. Have to say 90-93 sticks out to me most. Amazing watching it back now how I basically remembered the sequence of highlights perfectly. Sort of a precursor for the sax-heavy one you guys love (for obvious reasons). Love NYC sports history- so thanks for walk down memory lane. Pretty cool.
Haha. Why thank you sir. At the end of the day, I am a firm believer that being an Islander fan wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun w/o the Rangers around. Hopefully vice versa. Be well!Username checks out.![]()

This is sick!
It's funny that the best NYR opening happened to be during one of the worst periods of NYR hockey from 01 to 04.
Was it Hlavac who destroyed the camera?
I saw that!
Sportschannel used to carry the Islanders in the 1980's while the Rangers were MSG/WORDefinitely not sure. There could be some missing there.
Did msg always carry the islanders? I was surprised to see Yankees footage in that intro as well.

Yes. I figured I should have put that lol. Some Islander games were on WOR as well.
It also probably has a bit to do with magnetic tape not aging well...Wow listen to how different Sam's voice sounded in 1985. I guess gaining 50 lbs & aging 40 years does that to a guy.
100% vice versa. Was thrilled when the Isles got the new arena and secured their future on LI. Hockey is much more fun with the rivalry in place!Haha. Why thank you sir.
