What is the Solution to this Teams Consistency Problem

I’m done blaming the goalie with this team. I’ve been doing that since Andy left. The team went out and got a recent Vezina winner, time for the team to stop making all the goalies look bad.
Ullmark has been bad, many of the goals he's allowed have nothing to do with the team in front of him, it's time for our vezina winner to either stop the pucks or to get used to being an overpaid backup.

Ullmark has been an issue. He is looks like he has no confidence. Playing small. Deep in his net.

What is it 10 goals allowed on 34 shots .. something like that.

Everyone brought in before Ullmark was shit. Backups. Ullmark is the first true disappointment since he actually brought a decent track record with him.

I'd vote goaltending, but I'm also not gonna make an X account to do it.
I mean, every team has ups and downs, the issue is when we're good, our goalie is losing us games, so those lows really stand out because we don't have some wins from the good games to fall back on.

Yes, there will be ups and downs and it is not goaltending as the only issue on an individual game basis, but as far as what's neutering this team gaining any momentum, imo, goaltending is the obvious issue. They needed goaltending to be an area of strength and consistency, not a weakness losing them games like it has been so far.

I still have confidence in Ullmark long term, but I don't know if he'll get it together soon enough this year. They're sort of at a tipping point here where there's still time, but he looks beat atm. Deep in his net and leaky with goals going through him that shouldn't.

2nd goal last time is a prime example of what this team has to fix. We just tie it up and have a chance to build momentum. Instead our team turns the puck over twice leading to a goal against deflating whatever confidence we just built.

Its a mental issue

And wasn't that Zub handing the puck right to them? Doesn't give much faith when guys like that are making mistakes like that. He's supposed to be one of our most reliable and that's 2 egregious giveaways leading to goals in 2 of the last 4 games. Momentum killers.

Goaltending is the primary issue and there's no close 2nd, which is ironic considering we were supposed to have addition by subtraction by moving Korpse and having a major upgrade in Ullmark

That play started off with an execution issue. Pinto won the draw, Sandy moved the puck up the wall to Tkachuk. He had space but mishandled it and the puck stayed in. Zub missed Pinto with the next possession. The mental issue if any comes in on the fail to be in position to tie up McDavid. There was a little bad luck when the rebound off Ullmark bounces off Sanderson's skate right to McDavid as well.

The 1st goal was horrendous with the space we gave Bouchard who is far from fast and was going at 3/4 speed. Ultimately Chabot played it poorly and Ullmark was all most in his net crouching when the puck was flipped by him.

The 4th goal; A lot went wrong .. Mismatch personnel wise, Cheating for offense vs supporting the puck
Greig hits Henrique.. Perron goes for a change, Gaudette who flubbed the pass initially cheats vs supports , Sanderson is moving up ice and not in a good position to defend. This play reminded me of the Sens from the passed few years.

The 5th goal was more lack of commitment.. Norris is with RNH lets him go , he skates past Zub and tips it past Ullmark
Execution fails can come from not being sharp. And I do not believe we can say they were sharp through most of that game.

I wonder if Zub's pass was off target due to the two slashes by McDavid. Was right around the hand area from what I could see, but I haven't verified that...

That said, we had full control twice and failed to clear, can't do that against McDavid.

He could have slid the puck to space for Pinto here

This team doesn't make passes like that.

I've seen our team dump it with zero chase countless times on line changes when there was an easy play to put it in space near our player so we could control the play while we change.

We would rather make the simple play that gives the other team possession.

I only ever like when we dump it with a purpose to be first on the puck or lay the body.

I hate when we do the soft dump and change without noticing our D already changed and you could just drop it back and have him hold it while the forwards change.

We love to just give the puck away rather than keep possession.

Knowing our team though, the moment they would pass it back to our D, he'd fumble it and fall and the other team would go on a 2-0 while our team is changing which is probably why you don't see our team do that.
