What is more important event for you World Cup ore the world championship ?

An additionnal person being present in St-Petersbourg won't have an incidence on the fact that this isn't an international best-on-best tournament.
The best hope is the World Cup, but a new leadership would be needed, because as of now, it's a big, big waste of money as far as I'm concerned.
Oh, the World Cup is just a pre-season NHL marketing event with some interesting features. The World Championships is a second level flagship of the international sport (after the Olympics) with great traditions and quite big importance for the smaller hockey nations. When you understand that it's not literally a world championship you can see it as a great and very competitive event (though for myself for example it doesn't even begin to approach the importance of the Olympic Tournament).

I get that European hockey fans enjoy the WHC; however, it remains a Euro-focused tournament hosted primarily in Europe and scheduled based on the European hockey schedule. I'm sure it would be fun to attend one year, nonetheless. Ideally during a year Canada decides to send a somewhat competitive roster.
These days it's pretty much every year then - the last year's team was one of the best ever teams in that tournament and played heavenly big ice hockey.
