This is true, but for the most part memorabilia does not work like that.
The only jersey I own is a JVR jersey which I bought for about $200. If I were to get it signed I doubt I would be able to get $200 for it. Most autograph hounds actually use fake jerseys since they can buy them cheap (about $30-50 per on a lot) and sell them to make profit. Only players that warrant authentic jerseys are the high-end players like Orr, Gretzky and Lemieux.
