What is a high stick anyway?

Only showing one angle here, refs get numerous angles.
Second one is really poor angle, puck gets blocked out by the glass.
Maybe get some different angles.

Seems like for the Matthews one the refs couldn't conclude for sure that he actually made contact with the puck. Without something definitive, the call on the ice stands. So that's the right call.

I assume for the Knies goal they had an angle that showed definitive contact. So it's called off.

I'm a Leafs fan, and I have no issue with either call.

Just get rid of replay. I'd say keep it for goals, but the refs just say "I didn't blow the whistle, but I thought about blowing it". Then they'll call back a goal for an offsides that was 1mm over the line, 45 seconds before the goal.

Remember that puck needs tp be played above the normal height of the player's shouldern -- that is, the height of the shoulder when the player is standing upright not the height of the shoulder when they play the puck.

Mitch is more upright when contacts the puck than Auston was on Saturday. The Sunday reviewers may have simply felt more confident in interpretting the normal height of Marner's shoulder than the Saturday reviewers did in interpretting the normal height of Auston's shoulder.

I also wonder if the fact that the official was explicitly waving off Auston's possible high stick may have played a role.

Was it above the shoulders? Ya. Should it have been called back? Also ya.

But if you are going to have replay's inserted into the game, at least get the calls right. From LA's perspective, not only did the goal count, but they also got a penalty for being right on the call.
