I read after second period that this is the end and that we still can't find a solution against a playoffs team playing a playoffs style...well look we did find it...i am optimistic with Berube in the playoffs honestly

Yes, the Bandwagon Boys had all jumped off the hype train by the 2nd intermission.

Some were proclaiming the Leafs will never win anything in the playoffs this year because apparently LA was playing “playoff hockey” tonight.

Others were insisting that Berube and Marner can’t possibly be brought back under any circumstances next year.

But once Toronto made it 2-1, the Bandwagon Boys were tripping over themselves to jump back on board.

Hurrrr durrr, Leafs Nation!

For those still going on about Matthews high sticking the puck, here's what tthe NHL website had to say about the challenge.

Challenge Initiated By: Los Angeles

Type of Challenge: Missed Game Stoppage Event – High-Sticking the Puck

Result: Original call upheld – Goal Toronto

Explanation: The Situation Room supported the Referee’s call on the ice that Auston Matthews’ stick was not above the normal height of his shoulders when he contacted the puck at 19:13 of the third period (47 seconds elapsed time) – eight seconds prior to his goal. The decision was made in accordance with Rule 80.1.

Penalty: 2:00 minor penalty: Delay of Game – Unsuccessful Challenge

It wasn't a high stick. The knee was missed but that is never reviewed.
Can they review a missed penalty?

I’m not really sure why they can review a missed high stick of a puck that didn’t directly result in a goal, but since they did, why wasn’t it ruled a high stick? Touching the puck with your stick above the shoulder is a high stick and it was clearly above his shoulder.

They ruled that but it was clearly above his shoulder and probably above his eye level.

This is the home of Leafs Therapy and wild butthurt overreactions.

It's hard-to-tell because Matthews is somewhat crouched and the rule is that it has to be above the normal height of the shoulders, that is, the height of the shoulders when the player is standing fully upright.

Top guys were the difference. Stolarz is back to early season form it seems. I liked theMarner Matthews and Tavares line defending against the man advantage at the end. They were urgent and sealed the game. Tavares has been remarkable.

I have seen an angle where it appeared that way as well, but as it turned out the referee mad the correct call after all.
The referee made a judgement call but once we saw the replay it was clearly a high stick. The issue is with the review team.
