What happened to Woll?

Nothing happened to Woll.

If anything, our fanbase is toxic and when they like 1 guy, they have to attack the other guy. It happened with Marner/Nylander, it happened with Woll/Stolarz, and it will happen with Tanev / Carlo.

If two players fill roughly the same role on the team, a section of our fanbase feels the need to shit all over the other guy

And conversely so: When it comes time to maximizing said asset of disdain, there's an equal and opposite reaction. Our fanbase (as you said) is toxic in a way that often appears as though love of the team and game is secondary to love of complaint and chaos.

Not to say some criticism isn't part of being a good fan, but with appropriate context and consistency. Unfortunately, too large a percentage of our group is consistent in complaining for its own sake and the points made incoherent from one train of thought to the next.

Woll and Stolarz are the least of our worries. All that the recent performances have displayed is that they're human and susceptible to the effects of outside change at junctures where its very difficult to regain focus, like a trade deadline. The further in time from the deadline we move, the clearer the focus becomes, because the distraction is in the past.

Toronto's unfortunate in that our past is always present and because its soaked in inexplicable disappointment, its as though our fanbase has taken on the character of employing inexplicable disappointment as a weapon against the expectation of similar, future disappointment. It's not necessarily without justification but seeing it for what it is needs to be called out and corrected. Otherwise, we relive the trauma as a collective in an attempt to right the wrongs, even when they're not there. That's the definition of toxicity.

The better question is: What happened to us?

I understand that. For what it's worth, I thought Woll was solid last night. Hard to tell what we have. It's been a bit up and down all year. Stolarz seemed to be the more stable one until the other night.

It's a great unknown for sure. Stolarz has never been the #1 heading into the playoffs. Woll has never played this many games before. So definitely it's a bit uncertain what to expect going forward.

Nothing is wrong with either goaltender, our team is playing bad in front of them. Why?

I think they've played 2 home games in like 40ish games

2 guys that have been lifelong Flyer and Bruin haven't had a practice with our team yet.

Team in general is capable of more.

We miss Chris Tanev

Matthews does need to step up.

You cannot fault Woll on two goals, they were deflections. The team in front of either goalie needs to start tightening down the defensive side of the game, otherwise we are in for another short post season.

The goalies are cold

The team is cold

The lines suck

And I’m so happy this is all happening now instead of 2 months from now

As long as we are in form for the playoffs I don’t mind, it’s a long season. We can’t be perfect for 82.
