What happened to playoff hockey?

Are you enjoying playoff hockey compared to years past?

It was always a different game when the playoffs started. Things were rough and it was a war every shift especially in the 1st round

Do you like what the game has become or do you miss that rougher style?

It seems things are just way softer and maybe that’s what the league wants

I don't like that crap like this is going uncalled...

I think that this is always a tough one.
On one hand I love seeing skilled players managing to play without getting steamrolled into forever injuries, but on the other hand did I love the absolutely brutal physicality of players like Pronger, Stevens, Hatcher, Byfuglien etc steamrolling players.

I'd love being able to have the physicality without seeing players injured, but that isn't possible as the human body isn't made for 100 kg of muscles running over you when you least expect it, and the physicality sometimes allowed for fairly ugly and even illegal plays.

So I'd like to have both, but can't, so leaning towards preferring the more softer style for the sake of players' health.

Think it's pretty sad when refs start plucking one guy out of a scrum and giving teams powerplays for a scrum. Scrums and after the whistle battles are part of the playoffs.

Don't know if it's been like that for every series but just something that caught my eye early and don't really like.

Agree with this, refs pulling 1 guy out of a scrum but not calling blatant stuff is wild. I've watched 75% of the round 1 games so far and have seen sucker punches, cross checks and trips not get called. But take 1 guy out of a scrum. Refs don't make sense.

Watching jets/blues
No complaints about lacking rough playoff hockey
I tuned into the Sens-Leafs game yesterday, and it looked like two teams going through the motions in a regular season game. The deciding goal featured like 3 lackadaisical plays.

There have been some questionable calls between the Jets and Blues, but the level of intensity is high and the quality of hockey is good.

So yeah, I'm enjoying playoff hockey this year, because the series I'm primarily watching features high intensity playoff hockey.

Honestly I didn't like some of the officiating in some games.

Decide to call or not call certain things. Then stick with that.

The kaprisov punch - roughing was not getting calls so I don't care if he fell down. If they call this punch call all the punches.

I just want consistency as a fan.

Habs v Caps in my opinion was officiated in the Capitals favor. I have money for Caps winning it all but I want it officiated fairly.

The on ice product the players have been playing well. So I can't really complain about the players.

The officiating has been really bad. If they stop calling ticky tacky checks and cross checks then it’ll get better.

It’s crazy though, you can watch any random game from 2011 and it’s more violent than the playoffs are now.
