So if there's ever coming a biopic of this dude, I guess Channing Tatum will be playing Green

I always lukee Green, but now seeing those pictures... Tribal tattoo ooooffff. Explains alot about him.

Probably not smart enough to have done the little things right to have better conditioning to avoid injuries. Ofcourse concussion is just unlucky.

Injuries and age. He got lucky with the capitals earlier in his career in the sense that they played to his strengths and optimized his offensive potential - but he was a legitimately electric player up to 2010. He was the straw that stirred the power play drink too up until the capitals implemented their current set up full time in 2013.

I’ve also never heard any caps fans (or anyone else) compare him to Bobby Orr??

Injuries. His career trajectory is very similar to most elite young talents thay start off great then suffer career-altering injuries.

Burns looked like a lock twice and then went cold as ice near the end and fell short
Still won a Norris, had a ppg season and was nominated for a Pearson in that time frame. Not exactly 30 goals, but pretty good.

Watching Mike Green in his prime was spectacular his mobility on the line was unreal we could move around the blue line faster than the other team could react which I think generated most of the offense he put the other team out of position. And when he pinched he was like a 4th superstar forward. Capitals had and have such a dynamic offense, awesome team.

He just flamed out after some injuries and without that mobility it really reduced his effectiveness. Then he went to the wings where Holland collected veterans to fade away.

I remember in some behind-the-scenes show, might've even been the HBO 24/7 special, I came away not being real impressed with his character. He didn't seem like a total ******** or anything, but I felt like he was buying into the millionaire lifestyle a bit too much and he didn't seem as dedicated to hockey as most elite players are. So maybe he scored 30 and then phoned in his offseason training for a few years or something. That, plus injuries, plus teams just focusing in on him more.

It wasn't the millionaire lifestyle. It was greenlife52, but sadly the website has disappeared.

With Green, he got injured and hockey became faster. Green had really good puck skills but he wasn't a great skater.

Whoever compared Mike Green to Bobby Orr needs to have their hockey card revoked.
In regards to being a pure skater and a great shot who could put up some good offensive numbers, and I guess being decimated by injuries, then yeah
In terms of just about everything else, different ball parks

He was a pleasure to watch skating up ice with the puck 10 or so years ago, unfortunately he had low-IQ for avoiding hits and injuries took him down many levels
