They absolutely should go with Hill for tomorrow but they won't because the management have a love fest for Binnington, thinking that he's still 2019 Binnington. Just like Cooper has a man crush on Marner and won't ever dare to take him off McDavids wing despite them being terrible together.
Marner coasting into the corners......Uuuuugh!
Hard to watch!
Marner would love hockey that didn't have boards.

None of the lines for Canada seem to gel. The US hasn't been super impressive offensively either, but their team defense is outstanding. Sid needs to be at center, he's just not a winger, even at 37. I'd put him at 3C with Marchand

They faced really good defense corps in both games, and I don't fully agree with you when it comes to the game against Sweden. As for the US, they have the best defense in the tournament (even without Hughes).

The game against the US was really tight past the first period and Hellebuyck just saved everything while Binnington let in a questionable goal. There wasn't much more to it. The American superstar forwards weren't any more visible or dangerous.

You can't expect blowouts from either team when they face each other. However, a blowout could definitely happen against Finland on Monday.
Blowouts? Not in my expectations.
As for USA team, It is the best roster in the current tournament to now.
As per Sweden, when they got there game, after the first period, Canada was not the best team on the ice.
Correct on the Binnington letting the first one in, which was a real softie. That said, not much champions wins with one freaking goal.....

On Canada, I don't see them playing Canadian type of game. We can differ of opinion.
As per Marner, 29 and 97, I don't like their tournament up to now and we can differ opinion also, but if they Canada wants to win, at least 29 and 97 needs to step up. As per Marner, I would have taken heavierpower forward than that guy, just again my POV.

When games are tight, it is harder to get in the dangerous area. I am not seeing those 3 getting where it hurts.

The forward they basically need is Draisaitl, lol.

McDavid should have gotten Leon Canadian citizenship by now.

Extremely tight game with minimal space and a physical USA blue line. and you have to fight tooth and nail for every inch and Cooper keeps throwing Marner out there over and over  Marner purposely avoids physical contact in games of this magnitude and he stays to the outside where he is completely ineffective.

I'd change the lines as they're not working.

Point McDavid Crosby
Stone MacKinnon Reinhart
Marchand Bennett Marner
Hagel Konency Jarvis

Too many galaxy brain decisions by Team Canada. Hyman and Schiefle should have made the team. Binnington should be the 3rd string goalie, not the starter, Montembault (no offense to him) over Thompson was also dumb. Parayko shouldn't be on the team.

The line of Mackinnon-Crosby-Stone just doesn't gel. Move Stone off and put Marchand on it.
Yup. Those guys all train together in the offseason. Couldn’t figure out why they wouldn’t be on a line together.

Crosby and Marchand also played together at the last World’s and were effective.

The real question is why is Canada settling for a freaking .897 starter. Because the GM is the Blues GM and he wants “his guy” in net. It’s idiotic, he’s allowed at least one bad goal in both games.
What a bunch of politically charged BS moves. It is moves like this that makes it hard to root for Hockey Canada. So much horse shit maneuvers. No Hyman, No Scheifele, No Thompson, No Weager. Hagel is a bagel, Cirelli is totally overmatched, Paryako is suffering from paralysis, Doughty is to old and not enough time to get to speed after massive injury.

This combined with the WJHC team results it is hard to like Hockey Canada these days.

We better hope Canada beats Finland tomorrow and Makar is back for a rematch vs USA if that happens. I can't see this Canadian team winning the final without Makar. Generational dman who completely changes the dynamic of the team. They really missed him last night.

McDavid looks instantly better once they put Point on his line. He needs someone with speed on his line to win puck races and can keep up with the play. They waited too long to put Point there, hopefully they keep him there to start against Finland.

I want to see Point-McDavid-Bennett. Bennett will create space out there for McDavid and he will go to the dirty areas. But we know it will never happen because Cooper loves Marner too much to dare take him off the top line.

It’s a best-on-best tournament, and they’ve played Sweden and the US.

Filip Gustavsson kept their first game from being a laugher.

The second game, they didn’t have Cale Makar.

The team is built to control the game and trust that having Makar, MacKinnon, McDavid, Crosby and Marchand on PP1 will be enough.

And it probably should be.

In a short tournament like this, I have no issues with their strategy when it comes to who they brought.

However, line combos leave a lot to be desired.

Marchand-Crosby-MacKinnon
Bennett-McDavid-Reinhart
Hagel-Cirelli-Stone
Jarvis-Point-Marner

Go win the tournament.

This.

If you're so overconfident in your team's chances that you're putting Anthony Cirelli on the roster, you almost deserve to lose

Are we that surprised? They added Hagel and Cirelli for a checking/energy line at a round robin tournament.

Brandon Hagel is the 16th leading scorer in the league, don’t act like he’s some duster.

Cirelli has two cups.

There’s no margin for error in an event this short - taking players the head coach is familiar with and trusts in high leverage situations is not a bad thing.

Cooper needs to put his ego aside and put Konecny back in and take Cirelli out. Hagel is fine but for a team who needs offense, Cirelli isn't going to be your difference maker.

Cirelli over Hyman is a laughably bad whiff for Team Canada. They always want to be the smartest person in the room rather than just make the obvious choices. Now they've wasted two games trying to make McDavid + Marner work.

Ok.....

True. But currently, Canada did have problem creating really good scoring chances in the first 2. And 29 and 97are not responding to expectation. It can change, we will see.
It will change as soon as tomorrow night. Will have a field day with Finland's d corp. 7-3 Team Canada.
