What happened to Andrei Svechnikov?

He’s having his worst season since his rookie year, only 44 points in 64 games.

I also noticed he has been playing 11-15 minutes last 5 games or so, he must’ve gotten demoted.

What’s up with Svech ?

It’s the curse of the Michigan…Svech, Zegras, Bedard, Legg.

Part of it was his torn ACL which seems to have really sapped his skating explosiveness. He doesn’t scare anyone when he has the puck, so he doesn’t get that extra room to lean into his shot and beat goalies clean.

Part of it is also that he has been basically the same player since his rookie season, with none of the improvement you’d expect. It’s really baffling because he’s a hard working guy with a good attitude. But he hasn’t blossomed at all during his time in the league. Also a serious penchant for bad penalties.
