Given the numbers people are throwing, Edmonton will have 4 guys making up over 50% of the cap. McDavid 16? Drai 14? Nurse is at 9, what is Bouchard getting ? At least 10 if Nurse is at 9.
Nurse or Bouchard has to be moved. Cant have both. And yes I am aware of how hard it would be to move Nurse

I can see him taking a deal I'm going to say he gets 12x8 from the Oilers
That would be cheap. Anything less than Matthews is a bargain

McDavid + Drai + Bouchard = 40M annually.

Yup.

I think you give Bouchard 10, Drai 14 and McDavid 16.
40M on 3 players generally would be a bad decision

But these 3 provide like 50M value come playoffs and dont choke so can still be an elite team

Only thing is they would need these 3 to be elite every series for their contracts. Cant win with just good play if they make 40M togethrr

Bouchard is not getting 10m LOL

He's not worth that my god

I've never seen a play get so over rated so fast

If he demands 10m you trade him

Doesn't matter how much you think he's worth. His agent is going to look at the market and see defenseman on lower levels than Bouchard getting paid 9.5m +, how do you argue against that?

Also Dahlin just signed for 11m, if he's the new standard for young defenseman post-bridge contract Bouchard is getting 10m for sure

Dahlin is the new standard for missing the playoffs. Dman will look at that contract and take 2M and be happy their team will make the playoffs because of that.

I’m hoping he takes a deal that looks like the current contract McDavid has (8 x 12.5). Then McDavid takes 8 x16 the following year.
I'd hope too, but I see him cashing in. He was about $4m underpaid for the last handful of years.

14 or 15 aav, but then McDavid will get 16 or 17. How exactly do you win with two players making 30+ mil combined? Your depth certainly gets weaker. Although, I don’t know how quickly the cap will keep rising.
Well, Utah will sell a bunch of jerseys next year and again when they have a real team name, so that'll help with some revenue sales.

Around the Matthews AAV. I know it'll be a new paradigm with the cap growth, but if the deal is signed this summer, I don't think it'll break the $14M AAV mark regardless of term. I expect there will still be some hesitance around an unprecedented number like that.

After consulting with McDavid.

Drai will take 12M. McDavid will take 14M. The winning will continue and they will continue building a Hall of Fame career together while torching the NHL record books

If Drai and McDavid are both talking deals, they will likely take the same deals.

Maybe 12.5M for both players.

Hmm maybe. But I think some recognition that McD is better will be in the cards. Drai has always maintained that McD is on another level. That said, McD has always praised Drai as being on some nights the best in the game, better than him.

If you think McDavid's not going to want a raise over his current deal, I think you're going to be very disappointed.
Hall, Eberle, RNH agreed to 6x6. All I'm saying is if McDavid and Drai are talking to each other and planning on staying in Edmonton, they might end up taking the same deal.

Also, I'm not sure why you're surprised. Crosby took the same AVV.

None of those three took discounts.

This was covered already in this thread, but that's because the CBA allowed for more "low end amounts" at the end of the deal to lower the overall AAV. If the Pens/Crosby could only sign an 8 year extension versus I believe a 13 year, then it's very doubtful his AAV would have stayed the same.

Also, Crosby's weird when it comes to the number 87. Like super weird. So he'd do something like $87 million over 8 years for just under $11 million per year.
