14 or 15 aav, but then McDavid will get 16 or 17. How exactly do you win with two players making 30+ mil combined? Your depth certainly gets weaker. Although, I don’t know how quickly the cap will keep rising.

I’m hoping he takes a deal that looks like the current contract McDavid has (8 x 12.5). Then McDavid takes 8 x16 the following year.

Considering how under paid he has been, that would be an insane discount by Drai. He'd be taking less than Matthews and MacKinnon despite the cap being higher than when those deals were signed.

A little bit more than Auston Matthews. In the same way that Matthews leapt ahead of MacKinnon. And McDavid will leapfrog them all when it's his turn. It's like the NFL with Quarterback salaries. Next man up gets the "highest paid player" deal until the next one comes along.

So somewhere north of $13.25M. Probably closer to $14M, especially with the cap rises expected. And then McDavid will be $15 or $16M.

He could get $14m if he wants it.

My guess though is that McDavid, Draisaitl, and Bouchard sit down together and find a way to stay together. I think they'll each give up significant money. They want to win and their best shot is doing that with each other.

Seeing as the Oilers are paying the human tire fire Nurse over 9 million per season, Bouchard has zero reason to take a discount.

Two recent superstars MacKinnon 12.6, Matthews 13.25

Yeah the cap went up, but percentage-wise we're talking like a 5% increase.

I would expect Drai's camp to agree that 14M is fair. Then it's just about how much he cares about winning over money.

If Bouchard's primary concern is his pay relative to Nurse, then sure. I think a nonzero reason to stay would be that he likes playing with McDavid and Draisaitl, especially on the greatest PP of all time.

Define "significant". Because while they might be willing to not nickel and dime the club (ie. settle for a few hundred thousand less), I doubt they're giving up millions per year.
