Dallas has barely more than $5mill in cap space despite needing to fill a ton of spots. In fact, correct me if I'm wrong, I don't even think they're able to run a full roster if every single player makes league minimum.

What do you think they're goingt o do?

Dumba + Marchment moved. Benn takes league min, Duchene signs his 1 year/3m and Nashville pays him 7. That would do it.

Think they probably make some other moves, like trying to keep grandlund, so there may be more moving pieces.

Probably still have a difficult time assembling a roster anywhere near as strong as their current one.
100%.

End of the Benn and Seguin era.

They need a #4D really bad. Bischel is likely that guy but he's a couple years away. Cody CC as he shown in Game 4 and 5, he aint that guy.

I think the biggest question is if they bring their vets back…is it just a bad post-season or are they in the midst of falling off the age cliff?

Benn: 36 years-old in July.
Regular Season: 16 goals and 49 points in 80 games, 15:08 TOI
Playoffs: 1 goal and 3 points in 18 games, 13:06 TOI

Seguin: 33 years-old
Regular Season: 9 goals and 21 points in 20 games, 16:09 TOI
Playoffs: 4 goals and 8 points in 18 games, 15:06 TOI

Duchene: 34 years-old
Regular Season: 30 goals and 82 points in 82 games, 17:09 TOI
Playoffs: 1 goal and 6 points in 18 games, 16:36 TOI

I mean, Benn looked truly cooked. Seguin and Duchene may have been a bit snake bitten but all three had their TOI significantly chopped in the most important part of the year. Both had pretty inflated regular season shooting luck and then terrible luck in the playoffs.

All three may still be around next year but hard to think that at this point what they did in the regular season is replicable - which is going to place, along with likely loas of some depth they had this year, a ton more pressure on Johnston, Robbo, Rantanen and Hintz.

Want to Flames to jump on getting Bourque by taking Dumba. I could see Columbus giving like a 3rd and a meh prospect for Marchment.
Dumba and Bourque for a 2nd would make sense for both teams IMO. Dallas gets the same as they would from an offer sheet, plus they dump Dumba... Flames get exclusive rights to Bourque and the right to match any offer sheets (not that he'd be a candidate anymore since the Flames have a ton of cap space)

100%.

Benn is going to take a close to 95% pay cut.

Mush and Dumba for Holl because they need a body for the year and can move him at the TDL if push comes to shove
Re-sign Bourque and Nils
LTIRetire for Seguin
Let Dadonov, Ceci, Granlund (because they cant afford him), Smith & Blackwell walk
Sign two middle six forwards under 30 with heart that aren't complete bozos that want a raise in UFA
Bring up some of the younger guys from Texas who went out and kicked ass this year. Hyry, Blumel, maybe Hryckowian
50/50 on keeping Duchene around to blast through the regular season.

I'd also probably just not re-sign Jamie Benn.

Duchene will be gone. The top 6 will probably be about the same but the 3rd line will be iffy. They might put Steel at 3C and see who will slot in with him. Need some younger players like Borque to step up. AHL team has some solid checking guys (who can score too) but who knows how much scoring you can actually get out of those guys. Not saying the AHL guys will fill out the bottom 6 but I bet at least one guy will make the team next year.

Lub and/or Dumba out.
Marchment out.
Benn for league min. Duchene for 3 mil 1 year or so.

It’s doable. But it’s going to be tight and I think they should try and keep Granlund somehow but that will be more cap gymnastics.

A massive shake up would be moving JRob for a defender if other things fail.
