It's getting seriously annoying how our fanbase runs to defend this guy when he's done nothing but sandbag our team since we acquired him. Get him away from our roster.

The fundamental difference between this post and most others is thinking he's played like this since the Habs acquired him.

I'm not sure how one can conclude that this is the same player prior to the tinordi hit.

He’s played exactly 2 good* games his entire time with us, and they all came at the start of last season. That’s not a strong enough sample. He’s been lazy since Chicago

I don't recall the number of of games he played for montreall off the top of my head but I can assure you he played alot more than 2 prior to this season.

The term "lazy" has only been tossed around with respect to dach in this season.

Dach was actually decent last 2 games. Hate towards him his peaking while his play might finally be improving.

I lm not sure what the joke part is that you are referring to, but but "2 good games" is still a quite a stretch.

You are completely ignoring what happened with how Chicago botched his injuries on his wrist. That ultimately is what led to him being traded and again This was very likely a mutual parting of the ways.

It's actually insane that a 2nd line forward has the worst +/- in the league, and he doesn't even get hard matchups

I watched some parts of your matches. If the game is so whole, it is very bad. I understand he needs to find his shame, he hasn't played in a long time. But that doesn't mean you have to tolerate him not being able to lead your line. He makes mistakes, which doesn't help the team's play. He should be playing fourth line and not in the third period.

Another week another poll. So one of the most polarizing player on the team right now is Dach.

The dude is not playing great hockey, largely inconsistent and some are definitely worried about his and the team's future.

If Dach down the stretch is playing C & has 20 pts in the last 30 GP, is playing physical and is good without the puck. If thats the case, do you think there still is a need to make a move for a top 6C or that would leave you confident in his ability?

I think they spend a draft pick on a center (unless they get 1st overall and pick Shaefer). I think there's no way HuGo "puts all their eggs in one basket."

But I also don't think you'll know what you have in Dach until next season.

oh he’s consistent. Season is a throw away so no stress but him playing bottom minutes is not incompatible with habs getting a good vet 2c as soon as one is available imo (would not wait to end of season).

I’m ok if he takes time to get on the scoresheet but it’s his low compete level that is a concern. If he can’t score he sure as hell can work hard without the puck.

They should move him, lazy and for sure not a 2C.

What would be the max you'd give for a C a notch under Suzuki though (say a Mittelstadt level)?

A big part of his game was his physicality. Skills + grit made him special. He was hitting much more than he does now. You would see Ds from the other teams being in jeopardy with a good hit by him which would lead to scoring chances. I know why he does it less, cause he is afraid of getting hurt. But until he start doing that again, he will be lost and won't be effective. So I will be confident in him when he bring back that physicality. It starts and ends with it.

I'm not ready to drop the towel with him because I know the solution for him to get better is simple. And if he does it then he will be such an asset for us cause power forwards with size don't grow on trees.

Lets give the kid some slack. That 58 game season where he put up 38 points showed us all how dominant he can be. Let's cheer for him at the next Bell Center game

We won't get anything worthwhile at his current value. I'll support him to bounce back. I still have hope.

Put pressure on the puck carrier and lay some physicality in the offensive zone.
Put pressure on the puck carrier in the neutral zone, but play the puck.
Cover the center of the ice in the defensive zone, prevent the other D from prepping the offense.

Right now I have problems seeing him do any of this. He looks confused often.
