What does Bedard have to do to make Team Canada?

I’m sure he will be one of the best players in the world in the next 3-5 years. The talent is there. Crosby came into a situation with Lemieux as his mentor and lived with him. Crosby also had Malkin and some other young up and coming stars to grow with. Bedard has nobody.

Bedard has come into a terrible situation and not sure who he has to look on for guidance.

Are you serious?

The NHL invested so much in him, they had him sit down with nearly all the greats in the world, Gretzky, Crosby etc...

You don't rack up as many pts as he did in the WHL and collapse this way in the NHL. Guy doesn't even score goals, he plays all the minutes and all the PP and he's playing 1:10 minute shifts.... like why? No pts in the last 5 games, on pace for a 67 pt season... thats horrible

Like Messier said he's no longer a rookie

It's NOT "horrible" but it's not great. After all, how many players do you know who are almost PPG at 19?

Bedard does need to step up and change his game a little. The Hawks also need to get him some young talent to play with.

How many players you know that play 22 mins per night on 1:20 minute per shit at 18 and 19 years old?

The fact he's pacing for 66 pts this season is not an accomplishment at all. Its a matter of favouritism and Chicago just not holding Bedard accountable ...

This was the case before the break. Now since the break Bedard is 0 pts in 5 while his other teammates are scoring alot of pts.

His stats are horrendous, 1:20 minutes per shift on average !!!! <--- 66 pts pace???? is this a joke? An elite junior goal scorer not even capable of braking the 30 goal mark with this amount of usage?

Most players aren't even in the nhl at 18 and 19...is this post a joke??!?

66 points on a terrible Chicago team isn't the end of the world. Bedard isn't the first player ever to experience a sophomore slump...

He definitely needs to adjust his game. Maybe he had it too easy in the junior leagues and now the same tricks aren't working for him. But there's still time! Don't worry!!! The sky isn't falling!!!!!

From what I saw from the '25 4N roster, I would guess 9 of the Forwards return. And of the ones not likely to return, a couple of them like Marchand, Stone, would be asked to play a 2 way game, which isn't something Bedard can be counted on. So, of the 14 F spots, there is maybe 3 spots up for grabs for him.

He or Cellibrini may make it as a spare F at #14. I would guess they want #13 to actually be capable of playing if needed.

I don't think Bedard will make the '26 team.

DD a 2008 pick on D, made the 2010 Team. McDavid would have made the 2018 team in Korea had the NHL gone. Mathews would have made the US club as well. It's just very difficult for someone as young as Bedard to make the Men's national club on their ELC. And his game just isn't mature enough to be counted on to play a 2 way game.

Despite all of the talent, the games were very close at the 4N. 2-1 Can and USA in round robin til the EN, plus a 2-2 game after regulation. Teams just could not afford a mistake defensively.

A lot can change in the off season, I wouldn't write him off just yet. But if he comes in next year with similar play, then yeah he's got no shot at making 2026 roster.

The age thing is such clicher.....

Subban was 20 when he played his third NHL game ever vs the best team of the league during the PLAYOFFS to then establish himself as a no1 Defender...

We're talking about a second rounder having an immediate impact in the league and establishing himself as top pair defender nearly immediately at the most crucial time of the season.

So give me a break with the age bs

I just look at the 4N roster and there will be some turnover. Be it Marchand, Stone, Cirelli, Reinhart, Konecny etc. I don’t know if the available 3 spots or so on the 14F roster that he’ll be trusted to be on the roster (which are not mandatory 2 way play)

I’d take cellibrini ahead of him atm. I also would expect Bedard to be a spare F if chosen. Wouldn’t play unless an injury or the Offense is fizzling.

Sitting down with Gretzky or whoever doesn't change the fact that he's on an absolutely dreadful team.

He's the only guy on that team that can play hockey. The Hawks tanked hard to get him which is great but it was right down to the studs. Now they've got nothing to help this guy with. No player can do it alone.

Vlasic and Bedard are the only roster players I’d put good money to be on the team whenever they return to the PO. The rest will either age out or haven’t shown enough to warrant banking on.

Can Connor Bedard fans get on your nerves? Yes, BIG TIME, and I'm Canadian. They think he is better than he is. They exhaust you by continually saying he should be on Team Canada 2026. He should not.

I see a prospect with unlimited potential who is a few years away. Having said that, he still needs to play harder and get in the dangerous areas to score - you can't continually score from the parameter in the NHL.

In Bebard's defense, Chicago is a BRUTALLY BAD team - and they keep trading away players with talent. Chicago has left Bedard high and dry and, if I was Bedard, I'd remember that when I get a chance to leave.

He only has 3 more points than Teravainen while playing 5 more mins a night. TT has 33 points in his last 30 games.

Linemate excuse doesn't explain his poor performance.

The team right now, as bad as it is... is playing better hockey at a better level than what Bedard is capable of providing.
