with the Salary going up, I'd be okay with up to 4.5 mm$ for 4+ years. Seriously.

For 5 years I could see him take it. Good term for him, good price for the Rangers.

If you want to win something as a player, assuming you believe your GM is competent, you should leave some money for the team to spend on the other players too, unless you plan to do all the winning all on your own.

Why is 5 years a good term?

Only if he assumes he can't keep it up in my opinion.

If he keeps up playing like this for 2-3 more years he would easily get 5m+ as a UFA.

He clearly loves NYR though. He will definitely take some sort of discount, but I would tend to agree that 3m for 5 years would be ridiculously cheap.

there's just no way that happens. I can think of 4 teams right now that are a second line + PP difference maker away from being serious contenders. 2 of them wouldn't balk at 4m+ for 5 years to get him in the fold

Zucc won't be here next year. There won't be any room under the cap for him after Slats gives Callahan and Girardi huge contracts and overpays for his latest UFA savior. It will be ironic if the difference maker is the extra $1-1.5 million that Slats threw at Cashquist.

Well Sather is perhaps the only person in New York that believed in Zucc from day 1. Most fans disliked Zucc because of his size, skating, scoring ability etc and wanted to trade him. Sather on the other hand signed him in 2010, qualifying offer in 2012 etc.

You can say whatever u like about Sather, but he believed in Zucc when most fans didnt.

Zooks said one of the reasons he choose to sign with the Rangers is that Slats called him personally on his own phone (not his agent) and told him we want you to be a Ranger.

Lock him up long term.

7 years at $7 million a year. With the rising cap, that contract will be a steal with how he has played. *sarcasm*

Honestly, $3-4 million cap hit. His production in such a small sample doesn't validate a significant contract.

If it was up to me I'd sign him to a 3-year deal at $3.5 million per year. Than if he continues his torrid pace, lock him into a big contract.

He's easily this team's best player and its not even close. So with that said, he should get paid like Nash, Richards and Lundqvist do. Thankfully things don't work like that, so we can sign him for much lower.

He needs to be locked up long term ASAP. Before Callahan, before Girardi. This team is a last place team without him.

I'd go for $4MM, plus performance incentives.

Not allowed unless it's an ELC or 35+ contract.

I'd go long term to leverage his need of job security, ~$3.5M for as long as possible. If we go for a bridge deal he may get way too expensive when that deal expires and he is a lot more proven in this league.

His underlying numbers throughout his career suggests that his current production is sustainable and not a fluke.

If im not mistaken he also asked Forsberg and others for advice. And everyone adviced him to sign With the rangers.

But Yeah ive heard something about that aswell. Dont know from where ... Sather has always believed in Zucc and he is the main reason why Zucc is still a part of this organization.

So no I dnt think Sather will trade Zucc unless some Club comes up With a rly good offer, but that wont happen. Simply because Zucc is an undersized offensive forward. Its the same story With Cam Atkinson on CBJ. Those players will always be underrated because of their size.

Yup, especially his teammates in Modo (IE Peter Forsberg, Markus Näslund, Niklas Sundström, etc). They all warmly recommended the Rangers, both Näslund and Sundström were Rangers at some point.

Dunnno but.....

A LOT

more than he's making now.

Easily their best forward. Not even close imho.

I'm kind of split on this. As a fan of Zuccarello I want him to get paid as much as possible. As a fan of the Rangers I want him as cheap as possible for cap room.

I think he will get about 4 mill give or take for 3 or 4 years.

If we bag him for anything under $ 3 million per year it's a steal..

I think he'll take a 3 year deal worth 10 mill (3.33 pr year) deal..

I like Zucc a lot but i woouldnt overpay for him. Give him 3-4 year deal 3 mil per. Thats a significant raise.

Right now he is around Aaron Asham money at 1.15 mill. I think he should be making more than guys like Boyle (1.7 mill) but try not to go above Stepan money (3.1 mill).

3 years at 3.05 mill each would be good for both sides.

His fair value is more than that, at least 3.5, over 3 years I'd say 3.8 a yr.

As RFA other teams can make an offer, and the Rangers will have to match it to keep him. But Zucc is a guy who may accept a lower salary because he apparently doesn't want to leave the Rangers.

He might get a larger deal elsewhere and then we will have a decision but I think it would be good to try and sign him around Stepans money. 3.5 would be fine as well. 3.8 might be pushing things. As long as he is not paid less than guys that score 2-5 goals a year anymore I will be happy.
