Well playoffs or not lalonde is not doing a good job.

Playing Kane with copp and compher. What a waste.

Continues to play chirot and petry way too much. Almost as much as our top pair which is stupid and costs us zone time and points.

Refuses to try new things. Edvinsson on pp 2 over gustufson who has done nothing. Not chiroot and petry on the pk to suck.

Never calls timeouts. No clear structure. Never has the team able to play for 60 minutes. Too many issues that are reoccurring consistently. Coaching change is needed.

I don't see him gone until the end of the season. I'm not against a change being made, but there really isn't anyone available. If he keeps them in the bottom 10, hey maybe we actually win a top 3 lotto pick this year? There isn't much of a reason to sack him during the year and cause chaos to the team.

Having a new coach with new systems on the fly during the season isn't the best for the future core.

Coach Q is available and would be excellent for developing our young players. Remember chicago was young when he took that team over!

He should be replaced asap just off the fact alone that the fans should be acknowledged and our frustrations heard. Truth is though, the roster sucks, yzerman added some truly sucky players. Even without lalonde we are gonna suck, but we should still be better than this.

The prospects will be the nucleus of who improves the wings 3-5 years down the line. They are a greater priority to have a good mentor than by and large the NHL castoffs on the wings.

I will actually agree with Lalonde here for once. The wings were lucky to have the year they had last year. It wasn't a turning the corner type thing. It was a outlier year. This year is more a temporary set back year where they regress to the mean.

The team is not ready to push to the playoffs.

They have not regressed to the mean. Considering that half the team makes the playoffs and they missed the playoffs by a single point, they effectively were the mean.

They are now bottom 3 in the league in goals scored and are closer in the standings to the Ducks, Sharks, Blackhawks, Canadiens, and Jackets, not the Bruins, Islanders and Capitals that they were supposed to be competing with.

If they regressed to the mean, the mean you're talking about is being an extremely shitty lottery team with no discernible future of being competitive. A team that still lacks depth, still lacks truly elite players at the top, and still has no prospects that will significantly alter the path they are on.

If no one good is available He should be at least finish the season. If we are thinking about Watson, let him finish this season in GR also. I would be more worry about prospects in GR . Lombardi, Danielson, Elmer, how ready they are for NHL.

It seems they have been looking better as the season has went on. Have to hope the kids in Detroit follow suit and we see Kaspar and Berggren start producing more.

You mean draft position wise? Because any other reason there isn't an issue. Whatever current system there is sure as hell isn't good for the maybe 5, hopefully, future core members we have on the team.

I don't see a good replacement available at the moment, so more time is the answer. More time could of course mean the rest of the season, who knows who gets available after the season. There might be a better option(s) available then, so it might be better not to jump the gun now with some has been.

If Fester loses the locker room before that, then ride with Boughner the rest of the season. I wouldn't bring up Watson yet, lot's of prospects are coming in. Let them get to know the system and Watson to get to know them.

It's the "losing the locker room" part that concerns me most. As much as I think the regular season is an annual sideshow to the rebuild, you don't want it to become a clown show where players are only motivated by self-interest. There have been some games where lack of urgency, lack of puck support and not being on the same page as linemates/partners are indicative of players not all buying in to what he's trying to sell. If that is in fact what's happening, SY might have to consider a change to an interim head coach. They're not a good team yet, but they shouldn't be getting regularly overwhelmed by shots/chances either.

On the ice, SY knew he was giving Lalonde a short deck to play with this season by not adding the top 4 D the team needed . They've tried and are still trying to be better defensively, knowing it wouldn't happen overnight even if they'd added a quality D in the off-season, and all it's done so far is hurt their scoring ability. It's still too soon IMO to make a change based only on their play but if SY is committed to keeping Lalonde for the entire season, he is going to have to bite the bullet and make a trade sooner than the TDL for the D the team needs.

A team that still lacks depth, still lacks truly elite players at the top, and still has no prospects that will significantly alter the path they are on.

People who provided offense but little else where moved out and replaced with lesser options. The only exception is Kane who has Stanley cup pedigree. Which is the common attribute among those that have been brought in like Perron for instance, Taresenko was added but he appears to be done and on a farewell tour (also has a cup).

The team as currently constructed has one functional line amongst the forwards. Larkin/DCat+1. This is a similarity to 2019-2021 when the wings where pro actively finishing at the bottom. The second line is normally some combination of Copp/Compher/ and usually Kane or Raymond. They aren't the greatest but are insulating Kasper/Berggren so they aren't overwhelmed by functional top 6's.

On defense they have Seider/Edvinsson as the only real pairing. With Ed banged up, and Seider appearing to be working through something as well, there isn't ever more than one d pairing that works. 6-7 guys that perform are only 33% of a NHL team. The rest are rookies getting their feet wet, or has beens that are past their expiration date.

Goalies are likely placeholders while Cossa and Augustine are developing. Talbot seems consistent and still of use. Lyon is struggling more this year.

The team is not built with depth. Ability is suspect outside of 6-7 player's. This is not a team constructed for a playoff finish. It's the truth. if they finish bottom 10, that means the lottery is in play. One forward line, and one d pairing at best can only be on the ice for around 20 minutes a game. They cannot cover for the other 40 minutes of miscues.

While I don't disregard that the lottery isn't likely to benefit us as fans or the organization, it seems that this is where they are headed. So I'm choosing to hope for optimism in the the balls falling our way for once. Because outside of Larkin or the kids cutting their teeth, it is unlikely for improvement or growth.

I agree that we'll probably keep Lalonde for the rest of the season.

I disagree that there are no coaches available though. There are a mixture of young coaches to be poached atm. Although I'm not fully sure how the rules (real as unwritten ones) work for coaches not in the NHL atm but in the AHL.

I also wouldn't mind bringing in Ulf Samuelsson as an assistant coach as he seems pretty good at teaching defense.

I was told Yzerman is pissed and running out of patience. He is not in "we're still building mode."

If he makes a move soon, whether that is player or personnel related, I wouldn't be surprised.

I don't know how Yzerman feels, but if he makes any proactive changes, then we'll for sure know how he feels.

Pick anyone else available with NHL Head coaching experience. The lack of urgency in this organization as we near 10 straight seasons of failure is driving me to the brink of insanity.
