What would you change for game 3, other than the obvious goalie change.

Break up McDrai?

Change lines and pairings to find a spark?

Change from dump to rush?

More controlled transition and breakouts?

Change players on PK and PP

Simplify defensive system, figure out first forward back.

More hitting and physicality?

Pickard in
Jeff Skinner in for Frederic (dude can’t skate with a bum ankle)
Nurse with Walman
Bouchard with Kulak
Take RNH off PP1 and have Skinner replace him.

Lines:

Skinner-McDavid-Brown
Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Arvidsson
Kane-RNH-Hyman
Janmark-Henrique-Perry

Nurse-Walman
Kulak-Bouchard
Klingberg-Emberson

Pickard
EBUG

I don't know how they can course correct abysmal defensive play. After getting pounded for 6 in the first game, they all to a man talked about being better defensively, more engaged... and have now proceeded to get hammered for another 6 in the second. How do you even get to this stage as a professional NHL player, earning millions over the likes of doctors, teachers, etc. to play a game and can't even manage a modicum of professionalism to play responsibly, to ensure that you, personally, are ready and prepared to play right at puck drop? In the f***ing playoffs, no less. Yes, Skinner hasn't stopped a bloody thing but come on man, the team is absolutely horrific defensively in front of either goalie.

That being said, at this point I'd put in Savoie. What the hell can it hurt? None of the other guys are producing in the top 9 aside from basically the top two. He has shown well down in BAK, demonstrating he has a defensive conscience as well as producing offence. He works hard, a hallmark of the kid from his junior days. It sure as hell can't be worse than the likes of Nuge, Hyman, Henrique, Arvidsson, Podkolzin, etc. This team lacks the eager youth to push all these entitled vets and their assumed ice times and roles. I was dubious about Klingberg but frankly he was probably the only one making clean breakouts up to the forwards, so keep him in.

Frederic needs to sit. He's completely ineffective and struggling to stay in plays because of the lingering ankle issue. I guess you can go with Jones, but I don't really find he'd be effective. They have Ryan but what difference will he make? Small, old, and while somewhat decent in the FOs as a RHC and a PK'er, that's about it. Kapanen is bound to gift LA a freebie turnover. Their lack of depth options down the lineup is really apparent. Put in the kid and run with it, don't f***ing punish him for mistakes when you can't even hold the vets to theirs. Accountability for all.

And yes, start Pickard. For the rest of the f***ing series, whatever time you have left in it.

Score more goals than the Kings. :)

Give our team a mental reset by going with our best goalie. It’s what the players want and need. Pickard can do this…

Try to get the puck into the hash and more into the circles because that is a soft spot the Kings are giving up due to their heavy pressure on our D in their zone.

Put Jeff skinner back in and reunite him with McDavid and brown. Never should have broke up the only line we had going. Go back to the 4 deep center configuration. Take out Frederic he can’t skate. Play Kulak with Bouchard and Nurse with Walman. Get the second pp unit some time. Score the first goal. Start Pickard obviously.

How about they don't take a stupid penalty within the first five minutes of the game? Probably top.much to ask for. Skinner probably continues to be scratched so henrique can take a other dipshit penalty and cost the team many sort of comeback.

I wouldn't change much. I will admit , I don't get into the line breakdown near as much as a lot of you, but I think our troubles stem from bad defense and horrific goaltending. I don't know what you do to change that other than start Pickard. If Pickard starts game 1, this series is tied.

Start Pickard game 3, and hope to hell he can make a couple tough saves for us that Skinner couldn't to keep us alive in this game. Game 2 was ugly, and the guys looked defeated. When you have bad goaltending it will do that to a team. You just feel like no matter what you do it won't be good enough. Which it wasn't in game 1. We put up 5 goals and still lost

Something tells me the balless oilers organization will start Skinner again in game 3 though.

I think we just run 6 players no goalie to start the game. Might as well just look for offense if we aren’t gonna play defense or stop a puck

You know what? F*** it! Frederic is clearly still hurt so scratch him. Play Savoie instead! Give the kid a chance to play in front of Roger's loud crowd.

Also start Pickard and play him the rest of the playoffs. The team plays better in front of him. They trust him.

Yup...so many issues.
I wish a goalie change would be the answer but it wont.

So much wrong with this team right now.

The bolded is absolutely spot on.

Skinner McDavid Hyman
Savoie Draisaitl Perry
Kane RNH Arvidsson
PodK Janmark Brown

Frederic has 1 good ankle. Can’t play. Kane isn’t up to speed yet for top 6. He’s full of rust and it shows. Henrique is slow as f*** to be an C anymore and can’t take that penalty. Send a message, he sits.

Nurse Klingberg
Kulak Bouchard
Walman Emberson

Picard
Splits guy @tardigrade81

Savoie really is not an option with so many others ahead of him.
I would play Max Jones for Frederic and Noah Philp as 4C over Janmark.

Dont think it will fix anything though since we have the worst D group and the worst goalie in these playoffs.

Nurse-Bouchard pairing needs to end.

Bowmans 2 acquisitions Walman and Frederic have been a failure.
This is after he let Holloway and Broberg walk.

He also lost multiple high draft picks in the process.

I say play the young guys like Savoie and Dineen. This series is over. We are getting bent like a rented mule. Give them some exposure and experience playing in front a passionate Edmonton fanbase in the playoffs.

We desperately need a Dylan Holloway type player injected into this lineup but we have none.

I Tried to tell everyone Walman is a #5 or a sus #4

Letting Broberg and Holloway go to *use our cap space* is the worst thing i've ever seen. If we were doing that we probably should have come away with someone like a Marchand, Rantanen, elite goalie, elite d.

Something more creative than Walman and a high ankle sprain

Pickard in net, Skinner in for Frederic, Have our LD all on separate pairings Try to load up the top 9 since the Kings only play 3 lines.

RNH-Mcdavid-Hyman
Kane-Draisaitl-Podz
Skinner-Rico-Brown
Perry-Janmark-Arvidsson

Walman-Bouchard
Nurse-Klingberg
Kulak-Emberson

Don't forget Pistol Pete
At this point, there's nothing left to blame on Pete. It's been 6 years, and the last remaining contracts that he signed that are still on the books are probably our best contracts and none of the buyouts resulting from his moves are on the books anymore.

Also, no one he traded away at this point is doing much elsewhere that would help this team except maybe Strome who'd probably be long gone by now regardless. Hall and Eberle wouldn't help this team much and would have also been long gone, long time ago.

I think Walman is a solid 2nd pair guy but he's looked bad since coming back, he's clearly injured IMO
Foegele absolutely torched him on the opening goal yesterday
