Pay more attention to the details. Make actuals tape to tape passes instead of just chucking it in a general area or in your teammates shin-pads. Forwards needs to stop constantly cheating and try to cut corners defensively and keep their feet moving rather than gliding around. They need to stop blowing the d-zone as soon as our D are in the process of retrieving the puck and leaving them on an island. Need to stop chasing around the puck and being overly aggressive in the d-zone or on the PK. Defensemen need to better handle the forecheckers and stop making high danger moves/passes in the d-zone.

Team defense is a mentality which this core clearly lacks right now. Someone is going to have to hammer it into their heads that defense should come first and it certainly wasn’t going to be DJ

The captain needs to start playing like he's the leader of this group. Enough hot-dogging and start playing the game that makes him valuable to the roster - physical, winning board battles, shielding the puck, crashing the net, tipping pucks, setting up teammates with short passes around the net, etc. Constantly looking for breakaways, coasting around the ice, shifts too long, disengaged physically, not paying the price to win...all that shit needs to end and he needs to set the tone for the rest of the guys. If this guy got the C and got paid because he "brings guys into the fight" then he needs to f***ing bring guys into the fight.

After that, everything else will start falling into place. You can't be a vocal leader in the locker room when you're the worst of the bunch at cheating the game, playing undisciplined, slacking off on back-checking, etc. That message will fall on deaf ears when he's as guilty - or guiltier - as anyone else.

And it would also be nice if the goalies started playing a bit better. Korpisalo needs more consistency and Forsberg needs to start by making the easy saves and building from there. Enough of these dogshit performances where they spot the other team a bad goal or 2 every single game.

They need to play tighter as a 5 man unit, they to learn how to use their sticks to cut passes and and they need to play with more urgency.
