What did you want Seattle's NHL team to be named?

New York's National Football League team didn't seem to have an issue with the Winnipeg Jets.

Hell, New York's National Hockey League team shares a name with the Texas Rangers and their other NFL team shares a name with the San Francisco Giants.

True that! That said, go Scorpions.

There were so many good options including multiple with great connection to the city's hockey history and they went with the dumbest name in the world because they thought kids would think it was cool.

Totems would have been my choice.

With how these things change over time, probably decided best to not take anything that was indigenous based. Plus their overall options were not amazing. Cougars, Eagles, Evergreens, Emeralds, etc.

Of all of Seattle's sports team names, I like the Sounders the best. Ahead of Seahawks, Sonics, Mariners, and anything else they had locally like Storm, Rainers, Thunderbirds, etc.

Had the Canucks used a lumberjack for their logo, I think Seattle might have gone Orcas.

If not Pilots due to trademarks, maybe Aviators would have been a good substitute name.

I feel like I have permission to be honest here, with hindsight and it's just my own desire.

I wanted them to be called the Seatle Supersonics.....................

That was not possible.

Just like, IF Toronto (not MLSE) were granted a second team,

First off I'd want them to play in the West so I can cheer for two teams,

I would want that team to be called Toronto St Pats.

But dreams don't always come true and that's ok.

Steelheads, already used by Idaho of echl and Mississauga of ohl. Sound better than sockeyes however.
